Chapter 14: Inevitable

Derrick's POV

Sometimes, I get into a predicament I never even thought was possible. Hear me out, I never intended for things to go this way. Hell, I didn't even expect it. All I've been doing is watch Gemini and.. try to get away but.. now that I've come this far, I realize it's too late.

My world.. revolves around Gemini.

..It seems I've reached a point where I'm content of just.. seeing him.. being close to him even when he gets married. When he gets a wife, children to care for.. I'm.. content.

It may hurt.. like hell but I'm okay with it. Knowing that I can be by his side all the way into the future.. is enough and it's supposed to be enough.

Because he deserves.. so much more. He deserves a normal life and who am I to take that away from him?

So why?

Why are you doing this to me?

Why is this happening to me?

Tahimik lang akong nakatingin sa kaniya, I was in shock. I just.. couldn't believe it. How come? And since when?

"I like you.. so so much.. and I'm willing to break up.. if you.. accept me."

Why are you saying this to me?

How.. dare you? How can you say this to me?  I've already given up.. I have.. I've accepted it. This defeat that I've been in.. for who knows how long so why?

"Why are you saying this to me Ashlee?" I looked at her, in utter disbelief. Her hands were trembling as if, anxious. "I'm.. Gemini's best friend, you're seriously telling me this?"

I asked. I'm.. angry. I.. hate her right now. How could she.. throw away Gemini when all I've been doing these years was catch him? How.. could she?! How... Why?!

"I.. I didn't mean for it to be this way.." naiiyak na salita niya as she wiped her tears. "All I've been doing till now was be with Gemini.. be happy with Gemini..!"

"I promise Derrick.. hindi ko.. ginusto na gustohin ka, paniwalaan mo ko!" Dagdag niya pa as her hands cling onto the fabric of my shirt.

"..." I stared at her. Unbelievable.

"I.. just couldn't take it anymore. I had to confess at some point. I can't keep pretending I like Gemini when I don't anymore.."

"..."

"The only reason I accepted his invite to this camping trip was because I was aware you would be there.. that you would be here Derrick."

"..."

"I like you.. and.. I swear.. I.. I'll break up with Gemini.." hawak niya sa kamay ko as I flinched. Hah.

"No." I uttered, shocking her as I pulled my hand away from hers. "How.. could you? Gemini trusted you. Gemini always wanted to be with you.

Gemini wanted you. Ikaw.

Mahal ka ni Gemini. Ikaw yung mahal.. na mahal ni Gemini.. so HOW IN THE F-CK COULD YOU?!" I screamed at her, unable to repress my emotions. I loathe her. I f-cking abhor her! "You.. f-cking repulse me!" I added in rage.
