Chapter 8: Endurance test

Grade 5..

Derrick's POV

"Hala weh?" Di makapigel na salita ng isa sa mga kaibigan ko. Napangisi ako sa kaniya, "Oo nga, perfect tayo." Sagot ko sa kaniya as they grinned. They're faces full of satisfaction and victory. "YEYYYYYY NICE NICE!" Ngitian nila lahat, we were given the highest grade in the project I led.

The topic I-- we proposed was centered in politics. A discussion about vote buying and influence abusers which wowed the teacher and the whole class. Although I.. don't really think that it's much of a shock.. but maybe it is, given that the other groups only came up with basic topics such as cheating in school or stealing.

I mean, they could've made it bigger than us but they just didn't. There's so much to discuss about their chosen subject matter but they only pointed out shallow and evident facts that even babies can clearly see. Like what people say, they were just at the tip of the iceberg.

"Tara sa canteen, libre ko kayo haha." Aya ko sa kanila as they beamed even more.

"Sabe mo yan Derrick haa!"

"Walang back out back out ditoo."

"Wahhhh, french fries sakinn."

And so on and so forth. In conclusion, I was what people considered, the perfect kid. Yes. Me. The kid who people compared to their children and say, "Why aren't you like him?"

It's so fun to be someone who can achieve higher.. it's fulfilling. The satisfaction I get knowing I exceed them or that I had accomplishments people can't even get their fingertips to touch.. It gives the spice I need in life.

"May test after lunch diba?" Tanong nila habang kumakain. "Oo, sa English." Sagot ko, "Review agad pagkatapos kumain ah." I reminded them.

"Hala, OO NGA hindi pa ako nagrereviewww!"

"Si Derrick tamang tingin lang sa notes, taas agad ng scores."

"Hahaha oo, t-ngina, sanaol."

"H-how to be you po? Char lang!"

"Woii, Less dakdak, More kain guys."

"Oo nga, tapusin niyo na agad yan para makareview na tayo." Ngiti ko sa kanila as they grinned. "Facts, bilisan na natin!!" Dagdag ng isa sa mga kaibigan ko.

After a few minutes, bumalik na kami sa classroom. We were left with 10 minutes to review before English, more like, they were. I don't have to review and go over my notes again and again, I already did last night anyways. Our teacher arrived and like usual, I was more than prepared than everybody. :)

"Okay, We'll be having random seating arrangements for every test in English, that sums up twice." Announce ng teacher namin as I listened calmly while my classmates on the other hand,

"Luh, di tayo magkatabe."

"Pano na yan... Di pa naman ako nakareview."

"Goodbye guys, di naman ako makakapasa sa test kaya Imma pass away nalang."

"Qaqu ka talaga hahaha!"

"Bilis bilis, tanungin mo ko tas tatanungin rin kita."

"Oy narinig ko sa ibang section, walang false na sagot sa test I."

Wait, what? Napalingon ako dun sa narinig ko na nagsabi noon. Is that really true? What a cheat. Due to the fleeting moment of loathe I had, hindi ko na napansin na matagal na pala akong nakatingin sa kaklase ko kaya, "Hm? Bat derrick?" Tanong ni Hare sakin, this guy has been my classmate since grade 1 and like always, he's just as dumb as before. "Uhm.. nothing." As I immediately avoided eye contact and minded my own business.
