Chapter 24
Max sat in front of his desk, observing the tattered notepad. He has been reading it for the past 2 hours.
"Just what exactly was the giant red portal?" Max thought.
He still couldn't believe it. The Wildlands had more secrets that others did not know about.
"It makes sense why the Union Government couldn't access any more secrets from the Wildlands. This 'M' person must have made it to prevent any kind of technology from working inside it... " he realised.
Thinking about this, it finally made sense. When Max talked with Reya, she said something about humans being here 9000 years ago and he could still remember the Blood Emperor Spirit talking about the second continent...
"That must have been one of M's fake ruptures that he must have made. But I wonder how many there are? Are there only two?" Max thought.
Max opened the notebook and slowly started to copy some of the drawings found on the book. Max was about to close the notebook, when a small metallic chip fell out of one of the pages. There was a small piece of paper attached to it...
Max carefully opened the paper and to his surprise, he could understand it.
To whom it may concern,
This is M and I have left the remains of my legacy within this data chip.
If you have managed to find my notebook, you should have found out
about the rupture... To the future race, I hope you do not make the
same mistake as us. Do not attempt to open the rupture until you are
strong enough to fight the horrors outside it...
In this data chip, I will leave a few information regarding the rupture.
It is my life's work and I hope you do not misuse it...
With the hope for the future and science,
-M
Max still couldn't understand how he could understand the letters and language the book was written in but he knew it must be beyond his comprehension.
"Whoever made this must have been a genius..." Max said in awe.
Max took the sleek and shiny chip and rested it on the table. The data chip had an engraving of what looked like a portal and it's edges were coated in gold. He was dying to access it's contents inside...
It was then it hit him!
"The chip, I think I know where to put it!" Max said out loud.
He quickly got off his chair and ran towards the strange dungeon like room in the ruins. Within minutes, he was soon in front of the skeletal corpse. Max looked around and sure enough he found it.
Previously he did not observe the dungeon well as was mostly focused on the notebook, but now he realised that the corpse was actually sitting on a flight of stairs.
He climbed up the stairs and was standing on a platform overlooking the dungeon. Max looked around and had found a massive table with many different dials, switches and levers. Among those, Max found a small hole big enough to fit the data chip.
He took out the chip and slowly placed it inside the gap.
"I hope nothing happens." Max said as he pushed it inside the gap.
