Crimson. It was everywhere.
Blood on his hands, on his body, his clothes and his face. Her hands and face were bloody too. The bloody emerald dagger was lying abandoned near the couch and he was lying near the armrest, upper half of his body propped up by it. His electric blue eyes were red-rimmed and teary as they stared up at her. His bottom lip was trembling.
There was trail of blood that was beneath him. Leading from the windows to his current position- the couch. The fireplace was crackling loudly amd the portrait hung above it seemed almost taunting. The dark room was illuminated only by the pale monnlight and the soft glow from the fire.
She couldn't breathe properly. Her breaths were coming off in short pants. Her heart was racing erratically and her hands were shaking vigorously. She almost couldn't even stand on her wobbly knees. She leaned over the bar for support and knocked down a few flutes. Her navy blue blouse was stained with blood and her hands were slippery-whether because of blood or sweat, she wasn't exactly sure.
With two trembling steps she was in front of him. Her eyes were getting blurrier by the second. She grasped his hands firmly in hers and spoke in a gentle yet quivering voice "Don't worry sweetheart, it's fine" she tried to feed him empty consolations "Luke, look at me" she said firmly when he started shaking his head. "You'll be fine. We are fine". Her teardrops were dripping on his cheeks and mixing with his own. "You-u" he gasped out "I-I" but couldn't finish it. "Shh, keep quiet. The ambulance is on its way" she said softly to him. ''Just think about that summer " she told him, and then could make out a silver of smile on his tired face "you were so happy. We were so happy and carefree and....free" she said quietly.
She wiped his cheeks and put her hands on his chest, trying to keep the blood from gushing out too much. "I-I felt so guilty" he finally breathed out "I d-didn't wanna do it. I want y-you to know." He opened his mouth and took a deep breath before speaking again. "I thought it would make things b-better for us, you know?"and with that he closed his eyes.
She was full on sobbing now. It was hard, very hard for her to breathe.
"It's okay, i know. I am sorry too" she whispered.
