And if you open up your heart
And stay so far away.
But you are all the same.
And if you maybe find a better way
To love me then,
You are all to blame.

- All the angels, My chemical romance.

Incessant rain was heavily pouring down from the heavens above.

Drip.
Drip.
Drip.

Down towards the hell below.

Maddison placed the dusting broom down, and arranged the packets neatly in the stack.

Her mother had a strange obsession with them. She could never resist buying one whenever her eyes would fall upon them in the market.

Even when she knew she wouldn't find time to actually take care of them or plant them, but because she knew that Maddison could, she never thought twice about the hoarding.

Their whole front yard was lined with flowers, and the back with some fruits and herbs.

Nevertheless, her mother always bought seed packets whenever she could.

Maddison sighed and exited the garage, and made her way to the living room.

Just then, a high pitched whistle filled her ears.

Rendering her ears ringing for a few seconds.

She entered the kitchen, and turned the stove off. She poured the steaming water into her purple mug.

Then, she went back to the living room.

Maddison could hear every consistent tap against the roof. She glanced out of the foggy window and followed every moment that the screaming trees made with the wind.

It was cold. Very cold.

She pulled the blanket around her tighter.

She slowly lifted the cup up to her lips, and took a long sip.

She closed her eyes in contentment.

Grassy, light and fresh taste of the tea consumed her.

Somewhere in the distance, lightning struck.

She let out a satisfied sigh, and resumed watching out from her misty window.

Ever since she could remember, this was a ritual for Maddy. Whenever it was raining, she would observe the streaming raindrops, until she got bored, or the rain stopped.

Whichever happened first.

Usually it was the latter.

Her mother was on another one of her 48 hour shifts at the hospital, and she wasn't even sure if her father had returned from his office last night.

Her school had taken pity on her, and granted her a 'medical leave' for about 3 weeks.

Three fucking weeks.
