Don't leave me lonely now,
If you loved me how'd you never learn?
Ooh, coloured crimson in my eyes.
One or two could free my mind.- Bloodstream, Ed Sheeran.
Adrian is a very busy man.
Between his practice, running a company and fending off the vultures, he had little to none time for himself.
So, he had to temporarily put his practice on hold. For now.
His routine was monotonous, periodically flowing the same everyday.
Wake up, have a coffee, go to the firm, listen to all the whining senior partners, pretend to pay attention to the suck up junior partners, go for a walk and have a coffee, then come back and receive a report from the P.A. And throughout the day, try to squeeze in 3 meals and 2 workouts.
Adrian religiously believed in a healthy lifestyle.
His P.A was the only one he could truly rely on, in the whole firm. Mr Williamson never failed to speak his mind, moreover all of his counsel were extremely professional.
Adrian knew that his father trusted the senior partners, but in Adrian's books, everyone has to earn his trust, no matter what their relationship with his family is.
Mr. Williamson had earlier worked under his father for ten long years, and was currently an assistant cum advisor for him.
But now, he was Adrian's eyes and ears.
This was public news, nothing ever happened in the firm without Mr. Williamson's knowledge. Some may call it 'gossip', but he preferred the term 'aware'. And honestly, it wasn't even 'gossip', he had never discussed what he knew with anyone. Well, that was until now.
The Lavigne firm was based in New york, but since Adrian was currently in Sweden, he attended all the immediate matters virtually.
Forget immediate, he attended all matters- big or small, virtually. God forbid if even a pen clicked shut without him knowing- and he had his beloved assistant to thank for that.
Occasionally, if and when he would find some time on his hands, he would either spend it in a club, drinking and forgetting how a stranger ended up in his bed, or investigating his father's murder.
Everybody knew that the police were utterly useless regarding that particular case, considering the amount of clues- that were none.
His influence was the only thing standing between the case being labeled cold.
All his father left Adrian as a clue, the night he was murdered, was a theatre ticket under a whisky bottle near Adrian's bed.
The phantom of the opera.
The ticket was for a theatre in Sweden, near Trönmark.
On a sunday.
His father was a devoted catholic. Hell would have to rain fire for his father to actually miss sunday church
Hence, this was actually a relatively easy one for Adrian to crack.
So, he booked the first plane the next day, to the place where his father wanted him to go.
He still feels a little guilty whenever he thinks about what he is about to do. He really did not want to involve her in this chess game.
But, then he remembers, above everything, his father was his family- and you never give up on family. No matter what.
So, he had decided that her involvement in this will be a bare minimum.
Also, his father did leave him a key. A metaphorical key that'll guide him.
