Chapter 59: Fight The Flames

Kate was thrown so far back as the first couple floors of the hotel as well as the cars surrounding burst into flames.

She hit the pavement hard, not helping the pain she already felt from the gunshot wounds that were still profusely bleeding.

"KATE." Link screamed running over to her limp body.

Link thought to himself. He picked her up and tried running as far away with inhaling too much smoke and trying to see through it.

"Atty I'm okay. I think I'm okay." Kate said delirious from blood loss.

"You are bleeding Kate you're not okay. I'm gonna get us help." Link said.

"I can't even see because of the smoke, but I think I commuted felony arson." Kate joked.

"We will deal with the legal matters later." Link said.

"A man tried to touch me- Connor Road was his name." Kate said out of breath.

"Amelia what happened, we can hear you crying." Meredith said with Maggie.

"Link- Link him and Kate got held hostage and he might die. My baby girls won't have a dad." Amelia cried.

"No no Amelia, he's gonna be okay. It's Link he survived a helicopter crash and the most traumatic childhood." Meredith reassured.

"Can I please lay down I don't feel good." Amelia cried.

"Yeah yeah of course." Meredith said letting Amelia lie her head on her lap.

"Please tell me Link will live to meet our daughters." Amelia cried.

"Of course he will. He will hold these beautiful babies in less 5 months." Maggie said.

"Let's talk about something happy." Maggie said.

"Like what?" Amelia asked.

"The babies. How do you picture them?" Maggie happily asked.

"Hopefully one of each. One baby girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, a mini Link. Then one baby girl with brown hair and blue eyes with dimples. A mini me." Amelia smiled feeling her babies kicking.

"I think they know mommy is talking about them." Amelia giggled.

"I'm sure they do." Meredith smiled.

"What the fuck." Link asked out of breath and wiping the sweat off his forehead.

"It worked didn't it?" Kate exasperated.

"Where are we I can't even see two feet in front of us." Link asked.

"I don't know but cover your mouth with your jacket, you'll die inhaling this much smoke." Kate sighed.

"Are we gonna die Kate?" Link asked sitting down giving up, the flames coming closer.

"Listen to me. I will die before you if that's what it takes. I will not let you die out here not in the woods, not anywhere, you're my best friend and I'm gonna get us out of this." Kate said.

"I love you Kate." Link sighed loosing his air.

"I will stand by you until the day I die, I would walk through hell for you and Amelia. And we're going to be okay. We're okay." Kate said.

"The flames are everywhere." Link said horrified.

"We're surrounded, the cars caught the flames." Kate said.

"Atty do me a favor." Kate sighed.

"What I can barely move." Link exasperated.

"Hand me your arms." Kate said loosing air.

"Why?" Link asked.

"Don't question it just do it." Kate said."

Link reached out his arms for Kate and she wrapped them around her neck. Neither had the energy to walk but Kate could see a small, small crack in the walls of flames surrounding them.

She crawled on her elbows closer and closer to the exit. She knew it would be a long shot and she had enough to throw Link out then maybe herself.

She saw one engine of the cars not on fire but she knew when it did catch on fire it would explode. She shoved Link's lifeless body and made sure it rolled far enough away when.
