Chapter 70: Can't Take My Eyes Off You

Saturday, January 16

Link laid in the bed fast asleep. Typically his mind would wander to his childhood. Today was different.

His mind wandered to the first time he met Amelia, the lobby of Grey+Sloan. He thought she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

Their first date. Dinner at one of the nicest restaurants in Seattle. Her laugh and her blue eyes. He could look at her forever.

She loved him for him. She didn't need money or trips or gifts. She needed him.

The day he made her his girlfriend. Christmas Eve. He gave her 24 reasons he loved her.

The day he proposed to her. He was going to make her his wife.

The day they got married, he was a husband, he was the luckiest man in the world to have a woman who loved him the way she did.

She looked at him with her blue eyes and his heart stopped. He couldn't take his eyes off her.

Their honeymoon. He got a whole 2 weeks of just loving her.

He never thought about how two people could be meant for each other- meant for forever.

It had a nice ring to it though, forever was exactly what he could see with Amelia.

The day she told him she was pregnant. She handed him a positive pregnancy test in their new house.

Two babies. When they found out they were having two babies instead of one.

Those babies were two little girls who they named Adelaide Dove and Isabella Kate.

Link didn't think he could love anymore fiercely than he did for his girls- all 3 of them.

He searched the world for a home for his heart, Amelia was the home for his heart. He had never loved one person more than he did her.

Dirty laundry. Emotional baggage. She loved it all unconditionally.

He knew he couldn't get any luckier.

He wished his parents lived, but that was in another life and in another life he wouldn't have Amelia. He didn't want that life. He wanted the life he had.

"Good morning." Amelia smiled walking into the kitchen wearing one of his button ups.

"Hey." Link smiled sliding her a plate with pancakes on it.

They sat there eating in peaceful silence and Link continued to stare at Amelia in awe.

"What are you looking at?" Amelia laughed.

"You." Link adored.

"I love you." Amelia smiled.

"Come with me." Link said getting up.

"The girls?" Amelia said.

"Are asleep." Link said taking Amelia's hand.

They walked outside to the balcony where Link wrapped his arms around Amelia. The speakers played music and Link swayed her.

"You're the love of my life Amelia Shepherd. I searched the world for you." Link whispered in her ear.

"I love you Atticus Lincoln. More than my life." Amelia said.

"You saved me." Link said, he couldn't take his eyes off her.

"How did I save you?" Amelia asked turning to now face him as the cool breeze hit them.

"It's like I was drowning in my trauma and feeling like I couldn't ever be loved, then there was you; you loved me and you saved me." Link stated.

"You are more than I ever deserved." Amelia whispered with tears.

"You deserve the entire world Amelia Shepherd." Link said kissing her.

"I would never have seen myself here, getting to love you the way I do." Amelia stated.

"I wouldn't have dreamed I would end up with someone loving me the way you love me." Link smiled.

Link laid in bed that night with Bella in his arms while Amelia was changing Addie in the nursery.

"Oh Bella, if only you knew how much love I have for you, Addie and your beautiful mommy." Link whispered to his daughter getting a wide smile from the small baby.

"She gave me you guys, my most beautiful gifts but she also loves me. She loves me in a way I can't ever describe. She's the love of my whole life Bella." Link smiled.

Amelia stood in the doorway about to cry with Addie.

"You know, I love you so so much Link." Amelia said crawling into bed with their other baby.

"I do. Thank you for these beautiful girls and thank you for loving me." Link said kissing Amelia.

When Link first met Amelia in that lobby at Grey+Sloan Memorial, he had no idea the beautiful life ahead of him.

He had no idea about the love he would receive and the love he could give.

When Amelia met him she had no idea how fiercely she would love this man one day.

Every time she saw him she found herself falling deeper and deeper in love with him.

Until one day, she became his girlfriend, then his wife and then a mother.

He made her a mother and he became a father.

She had finally gotten her happy ending. She got the most wonderful man in the world and the most perfect baby girls.

If her old self could see her she would be so happy and proud.

She grew up and life got better.

Link could stare at Amelia for hours, her eyes enchanted him.

Her smile stopped the world.

Her dimples made his heart flutter.

He couldn't take his eyes off her.
