Chapter 46: Ultrasounds and Anxiety

Amelia and Link had set up an ultrasound for 4:00 in the afternoon before they told anyone. The entire day Amelia was full of anxiety because she wondered if she can only make brainless babies, what if she forgot Christopher, what if this baby was unhealthy, what if she just made unhealthy babies?

Link on the other hand was worrying as well but for totally different reasons. He worried he would be a shitty father like his dad was, what if his big hands scared the baby, what if he fucked up the kids life without meaning to, what if he isn't a meant to be parent like Amelia is?

Link decided that the only thing to keep him from being a shitty dad was to forgive his dad. He had held onto anger for his father for why did he get himself into those situations, why did he drag his life partner into it, why did they choose  drugs and alcohol over loving their child?

"Hey dad it's me. I'm here because I wanted to tell you that I forgive for what you put me through my childhood and what you drug mama into. Neither of you deserved that and I deserved my parents. I deserved parents that wanted me. In another life that would have happened and in another life I wouldn't have Amelia so Ill take this life with the woman of my dreams. Oh and Dad you and mom are gonna be grandparents." Link said smiling. He was proud to be a dad soon.

Link drove over to a store in downtown Seattle. His mom said to go look a baby clothes and see how cute they were. He convinced himself to go and parked his car. He walked in the shop and was hit with a wave of baby powder scent and the sound of baby giggles.

He walked down the aisles of clothes looking at how very cute they were. He stopped at the girls section- all the pink and frills were actually tugging on his heart strings.

"You have a daughter?" A nice shop assistant asked.

"Don't know yet, first ultrasound with my wife today." Link smiled.

"Well congrats to you and your wife both, I'll leave you to it." She said walking away.

Before leaving he grabbed a onesie with suns on it, could be for a boy or a girl. Whichever he got he would be happy. Link vowed to always make sure his kid knew they were loved, he had a childhood deprived of love and he never his kid to feel unloved.

"Hey beautiful." Link said sneaking up on Amelia. She turned and hugged him then questioned the small bag in his hand.

"Just a little something for baby." Link smiled at her.

"You ready to see our baby?" Amelia asked.

"More than ready, it's our little baby." Link said kissing her cheek.

They walked to the exam room where Arizona was waiting for them. She greeted them with a big smile.

Amelia laid on the exam table and Arizona rolled up her scrub top where Link could already see a small bump on his wife and it made him smile. Arizona squeezed the cold gel onto Amelia's stomach and began to move the wand around. Everyone's eyes were locked on the machine as Link held Amelia's hand.

"Okay so there is baby, everything looks good." Arizona smiled.

"The baby is healthy?" Amelia asked.

"Baby is perfectly health- wait." Arizona said, this made Amelia's heart fall to her feet.

Please god let this baby be okay.

"Arizona what's wrong with our baby!?" Amelia said getting teary eyed as Link's grip got tight.

"Amelia, nothing is wrong. But your family of two just went to a family of four." Arizona smiled pointing to two distinct blobs on the screen.

"Twins? And they're both healthy?" Amelia asked.

"Perfectly healthy, I would say you are 6 days away from 15 weeks." Arizona smiled.

Amelia and Link just looked at each other in disbelief. They were having two babies.
