"How?" she questioned.

"Because of this." he said, holding up a bag.

The girl took it from him. It had 'Mallory' written on the strap. She looked inside and saw three things. An envelope, a cassette player with a pair of headphones, and a small, velvet pouch.

"We'll give you some privacy." Newt said.

With that, the three of them left.

The girl looked at the bag. She had established herself as Mallory. She took a closer look at the things in her bag. She opened the envelope and pulled out a letter.

It said:

"Our dearest Mallory,

We know that you won't remember, but that's why we sent up this bag for you. In the velvet pouch is a necklace. It's called the Priceless necklace. It's a symbol to show everyone that you're worth more than anything in the world. There's a cassette player with our song entitled, Priceless. Take time to listen to it, so you get the message. Also, we sent this letter in there too, so that we can explain it to you. Don't let anyone know about this stuff because they could take it away from you.

Always remember...you are Priceless.
Love, J & L"

After she read the letter, Mallory felt compelled. She folded the letter and put it back in the envelope, then took the velvet pouch and cassette player out of the bag. Just like the letter said, there was a necklace. It had a long chain and a coin pendant.

Mallory put the headphones on her ears and pressed a button

Mallory put the headphones on her ears and pressed a button. Music started to flow from the cassette player into her ears. She stared at the necklace in her hand.

Mirror, mirror
Mirror on the wall
Tellin' those lies
Pointing out your flaws
That isn't who you are
That isn't who you are

It might be hard to hear
But let me tell you, dear
If you could see what I can see
I know you would believe
That isn't who you are
There's more to who you are

So when it's late
You're wide awake
Too much to take
Don't you dare forget that in the pain
You can be brave
Hear me say

I see you dressed in white
Every wrong made right
I see a rose in bloom
At the sight of you
Oh, so priceless
Irreplaceable, unmistakable, incomparable
Darling, it's beautiful
I see it all in you
Oh, so priceless

No matter what you've heard
This is what you're worth
More than all the money
Or the diamonds and pearls
Oh, this is who you are
Yeah, this is who you are

So when it's late
You're wide awake
Too much to take
Don't you dare forget
That in the pain
You can be brave
Hear me say

I see you dressed in white
Every wrong made right
I see a rose in bloom
At the sight of you
Oh, so priceless
Irreplaceable, unmistakable, incomparable
Darling, it's beautiful
I see it all in you
Oh, so priceless

Sisters, we can start again
Give honor 'til the end
Love, we can start again

Brothers, we can start again
Give honor 'til the end
Yeah, we can start again

I see you dressed in white
Every wrong made right
I see a rose in bloom
At the sight of you
Oh, so priceless
You're irreplaceable, unmistakable, incomparable
Darling, it's beautiful
I see it all in you
Oh, so priceless

I see you dressed in white
Every wrong made right
I see a rose in bloom
At the sight of you

I see you dressed in white
Every wrong made right
I see a rose in bloom
At the sight of you

I see you dressed in white
Every wrong made right
I see a rose in bloom
At the sight of you

I see you dressed in white
Every wrong made right
Oh, so priceless

The music stopped playing. Mallory slowly took the headphones off, then put it and the cassette player back in her bag. She stared at the necklace in her hand. She tried to think about all this, but she was drawing a blank. Mallory did the only thing she could do, she put the necklace on. As she stared at the coin pendant, she thought about the meaning behind the letter and the song.

The curtain opened and Newt walked in. Mallory zipped up her bag, so that he wouldn't see its contents.

"Hi. How are you feeling?" he asked.

"I'm okay." she said.

Newt rubbed the back of his neck.

"Would you like me to show you around?" he offered

"Sure." Mallory said.

She got off the bed and slung the bag's strap on her shoulder. Newt led her out of the med-hut. He showed her around, explained some things, and introduced her to some people. Their names were Thomas, Chuck, and Teresa. They all seemed nice and welcoming. Teresa let Mallory room with her in her hut since they're the only girls.
