The Priceless Variable

Reunited

                          Back in the city
Thomas, Newt, and Mallory were walking calmly through the medical wing in WICKED guard uniforms with their faces exposed. The alarm was still going off and people were staring at them. But, they just ignored it.

At one point, they had to hide in a small storage room because Janson ordered more guards to search for them. When the coast was clear, they came out of hiding and continued to walk through the medical wing.

Thomas stopped in his tracks when he saw Dr. Ava Paige standing at the other end of a hallway. Newt and Mallory stopped as well and saw what their friend had his eyes on. Thomas pulled out his handgun, ready to fire.

Newt looked over to his left and spotted Janson.

"Thomas, no!" he yelled, then pulled him away.

Then, gunshots were being fired all over the place.

"MINHO? MINHO!" Thomas yelled.

Newt and Mallory shot at two guards up ahead, then followed Thomas down another hallway.

                               Minho's POV
The doctors and nurses were preparing to drain my blood to make more serum. Very faintly, I hear someone shouting my name and I slowly opened my eyes.

"Doctor, he's coming out of it." a nurse said.

"Get me another sedative." the doctor said.

The nurse handed the doctor a needle with orange liquid in it.

I quickly closed my eyes and prepared myself to fight back. I pulled Teresa's hairpin out of my pocket. I sensed another person coming closer to me. I opened my eyes and stuck the hairpin into a nurse's leg, which made him fall over in pain.

A WICKED associate charged at me. But, I pushed him away with my legs, which made him crash into some medical equipment. The doctor came up behind me with the needle. I pulled his arm back and injected the needle's liquid into his neck.

With everyone out of my way, I ran out of the lab.

                                 Normal POV
Thomas and Newt were running down multiple hallways and shot at anyone who stood in their way. They were almost out of ammo.

Mallory ran down another hallway. It wasn't until she realized that she was all alone. She must've gotten separated from Thomas and Newt in the midst of the gunfire. A guard appeared a few feet away from her. Mallory saw a door off to the side. She opened it and ran inside the room. She locked the door behind her.

Mallory allowed herself to catch her breath. The room was dark, so she pulled out her flashlight. It looked like a bunk room mixed with a storage room. There was a muffled sound coming from behind her.

Mallory slowly turned around and shined her flashlight. There, in the glow, were two men bound and gagged in chairs. She ran over to them and took the gags out. The men let out gasps of air.

"Thank you." one of them said.

"You're welcome." Mallory responded.

She took out a knife to cut the ropes. The men rubbed their wrists and stood up. One of them turned on the lights.
