The group was hurrying to get out of the city. Thomas and Minho were stilling holding onto Newt. Joel and Luke still hold onto the girls that they love dearly. Gally was leading the way.
"The tunnels are right ahead. Dang it. Hey! Stay low, stay low!" he said.
They all stopped and hid behind another cement plant holder because there was a WICKED barricade up ahead.
"Get ready!" a guard ordered.
"All right, move up! Move up!" another guard ordered.
They all sounded like they were preparing for something.
"Oh, great." Gally said to himself.
"What are they waiting for?" Minho asked.
Then, an explosion occurred on the other side of the street and the outsiders moved in on all sides.
Everyone in the group tried their best to duck for cover in such a small space.
"We gotta go. We gotta go." Gally said.
"Come on. Let's move, let's move." Thomas said.
Him and Minho grabbed Newt again. Joel and Luke held onto Mallory and Courtney like there was no tomorrow. Gally had to quickly figure out an alternate route to escape from the city.
At Lawrence's base
Frypan and Brenda stayed put on the abandoned base with the kids until Thomas and the others returned from the city.
Brenda heard radio static on her walkie talkie.
"Brenda, are you there?" it was Thomas's voice.
She immediately picked it up.
"Thomas, I'm here." Brenda responded.
"We're not gonna make it." Thomas said.
"Wait, what are you talking about?" she asked.
"Just take the others. Get everybody out while you still can." Thomas instructed.
Brenda felt her heart sink and tears swelled in her eyes. She never thought she would hear one of her friends say that.
"No." she said.
"Brenda." Thomas said firmly.
"I'm not leaving you guys. Okay, so forget it." Brenda responded.
"Even though you should?" Thomas asked.
Her tears rolled down her face and she was lost for an answer. Then, she heard something up in the air.
"Thomas, don't worry. We're coming to you." Brenda said.
"What are you talking about?" he asked.
Her and Frypan ran outside to see that Jorge made it back with the berg.
"Our ride's here! Just look for us near the tunnels." she said, then ended the conversation.
Frypan and Brenda led the kids out of the base and ran towards the berg. The hatch opened, revealing Jorge and Vince.
