"Now that you're in the inner circle, you're going to have to accept some hard truths." Kuvira intimidated Bolin. Akemi had enough. Although she was meant to physically stand by Kuvira no matter what, especially while in Zaofu, this was too much. She'd have a talk with Kuvira later, in private. She stormed off, out the metal hut the meeting took place in, leaving her boss behind, a little stunned.
She was thinking about calling Asami. But what would that even achieve. Was Asami even a bender? And what in the spirits were they meant to do when she got here, fight off an entire army? What if she's got a Sato Army!... No, dumbass. She wouldn't. She thought to herself. And what about Kuvira? What about last night?
"This is such a joke." the assistant rolled her eyes to herself as she weaved through metal huts and mecha suits.
"Don't you dare run off like that again!! It seems I'm the only one that can find you out here. I sent off six people to look for you." Akemi didn't turn her back. "Akemi, talk to me. Come into my hut and talk to me."
"Is Bataar gonna be there too?" she almost choked from disgust.
"I told him to stay away from me, at least until we unite the Earth Empire, unless we need to be in the same room for work. It's still productive." The commander responded as they walked off. "I'm thinking of breaking off our engagement after we take over Zaofu." Kuvira explained, with a pleading look in her eye, as she turned to look at Akemi. What?
"I can't believe Kuvira locked me in here like a PRISONER!!!" Varrick exclaimed, gasping for air, "I'm not feeling well...! I think I'm running out of air... Zhu Li, hold your breath."
"I'm not holding my breath." Zhu Li monotonously responded to his panic.
"GREAT! NOW WE'RE BOTH GONNA DIE!!"
"Varrick! ...Varrick!"
"Aughh, and the head voices are back!!" Varrick said as he watched Zhu Li point up at a hatch in the ceiling, "Bolin! Thank goodness you're here! ... Where did that hatch come from? FORGET THE HATCH! There's something important I gotta tell ya.""Well, there's something important I gotta tell you too!" Bolin exclaimed while hanging upside down from the hatch.
He dropped down, only for the men to grab each other by the collar and yell, "KUVIRA'S CRAZY!"
They fumbled about discussing an escape plan. "What are we gonna do about Akemi?! And Ju and Ikuyo...! We can't just leave them here!" Bolin distressfully claimed.
"Well, we've got no other choice!! If all of us disappear, then that's dodgy, and if Kuvira's obsession disappears, then THAT'S dodgy!!"
"So you are seeing what I'm seeing between them?!""That's a story for another time, kid. ZHU LI!! Grab my toenail clippers and LET'S GO!"
"I'd like to speak to Kuvira. Some guards told me I should ask you about her whereabouts?" Korra asked Akemi, her heart fluttering at the eerie familiarity in the firebender that stood before her.
"Sure, what's your name? I'll lead you to her."
"I'm Avatar Korra. ... And thanks. You seem to be one of the most relaxed people around here." Korra responded, feeling curiously comfortable.
"Relaxed??! Wow, what a compliment. It's been quite intense lately. It's an honour to meet you, Avatar Korra; my friend and teammate Bolin has told me a lot about you!" Akemi leaned in for a whisper, "I can only assume what you're here to talk to her about. Please, try to convince her."
Korra nodded.
"Let's call a temporary truce." Akemi's fingernails were practically gone by the time Korra's conversation with Kuvira was over. Shit was about to hit the fan, and she needed to speak to someone, or she'd go crazy. As Korra walked away, Kuvira motioned for her assistant to follow her back into her metal office hut.
