~ Falling in Place ~

Mullai had been going to the shop since the new year day. Kathir had mixed feelings about her presence in the shop daily with him but within a few days he got used to her. The shop had given Mullai a lot of peace and she loved the working atmosphere. There was only pure business in the air except for the times Kanna came to visit her.

Kathir found that Mullai had changed so much from the person she was, before that issue with Jeeva. She was the same kind, loving person but had become quite strict. She spoke only when needed and she had not once teased him or joked about him to others which was by itself new. She was her old self only for the few minutes Kanna was with them. They both had a beautiful bond and she seemed to only trust him with her real self. She speaks to Kumaresan appa and Saravanan about daily stuffs and news in Kunnakudi during her coffee time but otherwise is so much involved in her job.

Mullai, on the other hand, had been consciously taking efforts to not ruin Kathir's state of mind with her presence. She knew how much he loved their shop and it was almost a kind of home for him. He had always shown his disapproval every time she came to the shop before. So her first goal was to not be a hindrance to his happiness by being there. She talked less and only when necessary. But as days passed, she could sense him taking care of her while she was there in his own way.

She loved drinking her favourite annachi kadai coffee during work but hesitated to buy it in the beginning unless others initiated it. The others go out to drink their tea. It was only on rare occasions they drank their beverage in the shop. But later on, her coffee started to reach her regularly on time and she will never forget the day when she knew Kathir had done that for her.

First time when she refused the shop boy saying that she didn't order one, his reply "Kathir anna thaan ka sonaaru, dhinamum indha time ku coffee kadaiku vandhuranum nu" made her really surprised and happy. The next day when he came, he said something which made her laugh out loud "Akka annachi kitta Kathir annan thaan order pannuchunu unga kitta solla kudaathunu solliruku athu theriyama na olaritten, please ka annan ta solliratheenga.. Apram na sethen". She thought Kathir is an unbelievable kind of guy. There is no one like him she has ever seen before and was sure will never in future too.

Pongal in their Ancestral House:

The whole PS family, Dhanam's family, Mullai's family, Kumaresan appa and Saravanan all reached the ancestral house in Karaikudi two days before Pongal and planned to return back the day after Pongal. The first two days were full of laughter and fun. Everyone set everything aside and had a great time. Meanwhile, Jeeva had refused another four girls they saw for him, with similar stupid reasons and Lakshmi amma had found out there's something wrong with him. She thought to handle him after Pongal.

The most important event of the first two days in their ancestral house was that both Lakshmi amma and Parvathy talked about Kathir and Mullai. There was a huge sigh of relief from Kanna when he heard Parvathy was the one who had actually initiated the whole convo. Finally, things were going exactly as he had foreseen. Kathir and Mullai were totally blind about this because Parvathy had strictly decided that she wanted to ask Kathir personally and then the next step can be thought of after seeing his reaction. There was an hesitation in her for the entire two days to talk to him but what happened on Pongal day put an end to it.

Unfortunately, on the morning of Pongal, Mullai had found out she was unwell and she wouldn't be able to come with them to the temple. They had left her in the house alone and they were to come back only in the late afternoon. Kathir was unaware of it until he reached the temple and when he observed her absence and Kumaresan mama informed that she had stayed back at home, he had straight away come back informing only to Moorthy.

No one knew of this. Moorthy had said to everyone that Kathir had gone for an important work as Kathir had requested him to not make it a big deal. Unaware of all this, Parvathy had asked Kanna just after lunch to take her back home as Mullai was alone. When they reached there, both Kanna and Parvathy were shocked to see him sitting in the veranda. Parvathy understood that he had come back for Mullai and had not even thought to tell Mullai he was in front of the house which would have put her in an uncomfortable situation. He had just been there in case she needed someone for some help and also because he didn't want her to be alone.
