~ Friendship and Love ~

In a few days, Murugan and Parvathy had left for a distant family member's wedding in Chennai. Mullai and Kathir were to accompany them but the news of the arrival of a person had made her cancel their plans. Since the drift between Mullai and Kathir's family, Mullai was so close to her maternal uncle's family and her cousin Arul who was her best friend for all these years. Arul visits Kunnakudi every year for a week during his job vacation time. This year due to Murugan Parvathy's absence, Kathir had proposed his stay in PS house seeing Mullai all happy hearing about his visit. Arul and Kathir were of the same age and he bonded with him well through phone before his arrival itself. But he didn't expect the array of feelings Arul's sojourn would evoke in him.

Kathir had picked him up from the bus stand in the evening when he arrived and came home talking about their respective jobs with all interest and curiosity. They were both living lives that were poles apart and they loved knowing about each other's life. Till the moment Mullai met Arul, everything was in order and normal for Kathir. They entered the house and a smile automatically formed in his lips seeing Mullai's usual big smile with her eyes getting round with happiness. It took him a few seconds to realize, this time that smile was directed to someone else other than him and he felt something sink within himself. Mullai was ecstatic with happiness meeting her best friend after one whole year. The whole family exchanged pleasantries and they started to like Arul in a very short time.

Kathir stayed at home for the evening and Moorthy and Jeeva went to the shop. Dhanam and Mullai were prepping up for dinner with all Arul's favourite dishes and Kanna, Arul, Kathir, and Meena sat in the hall having tea.

Kanna: Arul anna... Mullai anniyum neengalum romba close friends ah?
