Veronica shut her suitcase and told a house elf to bring it down the stairs, she was finally going back to Hogwarts. Christmas passed quickly, she got more owls from her friends and even some gifts from Narcissa, Lucius and Theodore Nott, but she wanted to go back to school.
"Veronica" her uncle's and father's voice sounded the same, but she could distinguish them. Her uncle's was much more dark.
"Yes uncle?" She turned around to face the man sharing most of her physical features
"I wanted to give you something before your departure" Tom Riddle said stepping further into the room
He took a little black box from his pocket and handed it to his niece, who stared at it with a confused frown. Veronica opened the door and inspected the ring in it carefully, it was golden, with a black stone which had a weird engraving on top.
"That is a very important ring, my dear niece" Tom started making the girl look at him "It belonged to Marvolo Gaunt when I got it, it has been in our family for centuries" he explained
"But, why give it to me?" Veronica asked him
"We all know who the real Riddle Heir is and it's not your foolish brother" It was now William Riddle who spoke, walking slowly into the room
"Wear it with pride, Veronica. As the Heir of Slytherin you are" Voldemort smirked looking at his niece putting the ring on her finger
"We trust you'll take care of it" William said
"Of course, father" Veronica nodded
She stared at both men standing before her, both identical, they even wore the same evil smirk.
"Your mother will accompany you to the station" William kissed his daughter's cheek

Veronica despised the idea of having to go back to Hogwarts. There was too much going on at her house for her to just stay at school learning useless incantations.
"What's wrong, Ronnie?" Narcissa Malfoy asked her when they were already on the train
"I can't believe we have to go back" Her friend replied frowning
"What do you mean?" The blonde asked confused
"I'd just rather pitch myself out of the Astronomy Tower than going back to that pathetic school" Veronica snickered
