A pair of arms wrapped around you as soon as you stood up. You sank into the warmth of the hug, clinging onto whatever comfort you could get. You almost died and that was difficult for you to process. The hug loosened lightly as Chris pulled back.

"What the hell was that?" His eyes were wild with concern. "You could have died!"

You shook you head and fell into his embrace. You mumbled apologies for scaring him but insisted that you would do it again if it came down to it. His grip tightened slightly before he moved away. You attempted to tug him back but you were interrupted by two freezing hands cupping your face. Oh, and of course the lips that rushed out to meet yours.

Shock rippled through your body. The kiss was intense and definitely a spur of the moment kind of thing if his reaction was anything to go by. The kiss lasted for a second at most before Chris ripped himself away from you.

"I am so sorry!" He stumbled over his words. "I don't know what-"

His panic was cut off by a helicopter landing. You and your friends were rushed into the helicopter. Blankets were passed around and you snuggled into it. Mike sat next to you, tracing circles on your knee. His other arm was wrapped around Jess.

You all looked awful to say the least. You were covered in dirt and bruises. You, in particular, had a layer of soot coating your skin. You dreaded the hours it would take to clean it off of you.

You didn't notice the pain in your arm until Ashley cried out about how you were bleeding. You assured everyone that you were fine and cradled your arm for the rest of the ride.

Your arm was treated as soon as you got to the police station. It wasn't anything severe, just a minor inconvenience. Old you would probably be more worried about it, but you couldn't care less at this point.

You were a bit numb. After the onslaught of emotions and adrenaline, everything just kind of faded, as if your body was telling you it needed a break. You couldn't handle much else so you shut down for the time being. Flashes of blood and sharp talons flickered behind your eyes every time they closed so you tried not to blink.

You sat in a chair, waiting for the police to call you in for you testimony. Another chair screeched. You watched with blank eyes as Chris made his way towards you and cleared his throat.

He started to apologize for the kiss again and, at that point, you were just tired. You allowed yourself to feel something for the first time since you got on that helicopter. Happiness. Chris kept going on and on. You stood up and smiled softly at his rambling.

You shut him up fairly quick by returning the favor from earlier. You learned not to waste opportunities recently and you sure as hell weren't wasting this one. Chris flailed around for a moment, unsure what to do with his hands before he rested them on your waist.

A wolf whistle caused you to jump apart. Amused, yet traumatized looks met your startled states. Mike was clearly getting the most entertainment from it. "Damn homegirl," he chuckled, "you're getting straight to business."

Chris opened and closed his mouth, too flustered to really say anything. You weren't willing to accept the same fate. Instead, you gave into the banter. "Hell yeah, baby. I ain't wasting no time."

"We almost just died," Sam mused, "and yet, this is the conversation we're having."

Ashley stepped forward. Your confidence dwindled to nearly nothing. Shit, you thought. You prepared yourself for anger but nearly choked when you got yet another hug.

"It's about time!" Ashley cheered.

"Wait, what?"' You asked.

Sam looked just as confused as you. "I thought you liked Chris...?" Sam trailed off.

"Oh no," Ashley dismissed, "he wanted my advice with Y/N."

"Ash!" Chris hissed.

"Can I just say that I called it?" Jess laughed, raising her hand.

"We're actually fucking nuts," Emily muttered. "Are we seriously joking right now after that shit show?"

"Listen, Em," Matt soothed, "we need a bit of a pick me up right now. We went through some serious shit and I think that this could be good for us until we have to rehash everything to the cops."

"I guess you're right," she sighed.

The fun was disrupted by a police officer calling you in. You gave Chris a quick kiss on the cheek before following the cop into the room. You looked back one last time before the door closed and grinned at the dumb smile on his face as he watched you go. The door closed and you were alone with the cop. Maybe, just maybe, you would be alright.

A/N: It's over! That's it! Well, almost. I'm gonna mark this story as completed (finally!) and start focusing on my other stories after I write the epilogue. I'm willing to revisit this later, so, if you want to read anything specific/have any requests, let me know and I might add some things or make some special chapters. This is kind of the official end though. I hope you enjoyed this story! I personally think I might have rushed the ending a bit, so let me know if you want me to edit that a bit in the future. Also, let me know if you want me to add some more moments of you and Chris because I know there wasn't a lot, even if this is technically a Chris x Reader fic. I'll might add some extra moments of what happens after (maybe you and Chris coping with the loss of Josh?) but this is like the official ending before the epilogue. The epilogue will be out soon, so stay tuned for that. Thank you all for reading this!
