With the sound of chirping birds and the sight of the crimson colour sky Mia placed her book down and headed towards the bathroom, she had moved back into her own home for the time being.

Esme hated letting her be alone but there wasn't much she could do to convince Mia otherwise. In a way, Esme reminded Mia of Molly which inevitably reminded her of fred. She hated it.

It had been a highly uneventful 2 weeks since Mia had been turned, she was lucky in the bloodlust department, the need for human blood wasn't very strong since she had never tasted it before and she never planned to.

School was suddenly unbearable. To Mia's dismay, Jessica and her friends pretended as if she didn't exist. Of course, this happened only after they had seen her speaking with the Cullens on countless occasions.

Jealousy. It makes humans do stupid things.

It's not as if she missed them, to be honest, she was amused by them. Watching as they let boys and gossip get in between lifelong friendships, seeing that they have little to no regard for school and would much rather party and get drunk.

They had made Mia feel normal for a while, but of course her life will never be normal, not again.

Mia stepped out of her shower, the cold air nipped at her skin. After getting dressed, Mia sat in her car and made her way back to the hell that took on the name of forks high school. Perhaps Edward was right and they really were damned.

One of the only conversations that Mia and Edward had where he wasn't trying to get on her every last nerve, was when he told her that he believed he was damned because of his vampirism. They had sat just in front of the lake by the Cullens home, it was a nice day, not cold enough to snow but just cold enough that smoke puffed from your mouth with every word you spoke.

"Becoming a vampire means practically selling your soul" he spoke solemnly, "You're damned if you become a vampire"

"Is that why you hate me?"

"Hate is a strong word" he frowned, "but yes, I suppose that amongst many other reasons"

"So then why does it matter?" He furrowed his brows at her, "if I'm damned, I mean"

"It doesn't matter what i feel towards you" he sighed, "No one deserves to be damned the way I am"

"I don't believe you're damned," Mia chirped.

"Of course you don't" he sneered at the lake.

Mia frowned, "Well I believe" she spoke cautiously, "That you're only damned if you make the wrong decisions, not because of the thing that you are"

Mia could see out of the corner of her eye that he had turned his head towards her, he tilted his head, he waited for an explanation and when she didn't give him one he was forced to speak.

"Explain" he arched a brow.

"I suppose it's as if you were to look at a lion, it hunts other animals that are below it in the food chain, correct?" She said rhetorically, he nodded.

"If a lion eats said animal, he cannot possibly be damned as it is his basic nature, its natural" she continued.

"You're saying if I drink the blood of an innocent I won't be damned, because it's natural?" He scoffed, disbelieving.

"No" she had paused, "No matter your actions in the past you and the rest of your family have all decided that you would rather hunt animals and not endanger humans, this represents resilience, patience and the kind of morals that you have. Could you imagine Carlisle being damned?" She snorted. "He has put aside all of his natural instincts just to help other humans, to become a doctor no matter how difficult it has been proven for him"

It had become so silent that Mia actually believed that he had gotten up and left while she was speaking. She turned her head in his direction to see that he was, in fact, still there.

She inspected him closely, he appeared to be unaffected by her words but as she looked closer she realised the corner of his lip was upturned ever so slightly and she found herself giving a satisfied grin.

.

School dawdled on but Mia finally returned to the somewhat comforting atmosphere of her home where she found Rosalie waiting. She was sitting with one leg atop the other on Mia's couch observing the furniture with distaste.

"What a..." Rosalie dragged her finger along the dusty arm of the couch and scrunched her face in disgust, "colourful home" she clicked her tongue.

Mia scowled at her in a teasing manner.

"If you haven't noticed, I really don't have enough free time to decorate" Mia threw her bag somewhere on the floor and, in the most ungraceful way, slumped down onto a nearby couch.

"Lets change that" Rosalie clapped her hands together and stood up.

"How exactly do you propose we do that?" Mia raised a brow.

Rosalie simply smirked and ventured through the house, Mia reluctantly followed.

During Mia's time as a vampire she and Rosalie had become rather fond of one another — whether Rosalie would admit this or not. Rosalie had found Mia significantly less irritating than the other thing that Edward brung home. They also shared a mutual distaste to Bella but Mia was more reluctant to admit it.

Mia found that Rosalie was actually quite interesting to speak to and be around once you get past that whole bitchy phase.

"Pink or blue?" Rosalie questioned

"For what?"

"Oh, come on were you not listening at all? House colours silly, honestly, I expected more from you Mia." Rosalie tutted holding up a blue sheet of paper and a pink one next to it.

"Put down the baby colours, Rosalie" Mia cautiously grabbed the pieces of paper and Rosalie frowned.

"Fine" she sighed, reluctantly giving Mia the papers.

"I need you to promise me that you won't interfere with my house decor" Mia raised both her brows

"I promise," Rosalie rolled her eyes as she held up one hand to her chest and the other in the air.
