Chapter 18

Adrien had stayed true to his words and delivered a gift basket to Edward.

It sat on Mia's front porch for her and Edward to find.

The basket included an animal carcass, some stale cookies and a letter which contained a message of hate towards Edward and a stream of swear words.

Even though Adrien made no intention of making up with Edward, or showing any indication of missing him, his next 3 Wednesday's were spent on the phone to Mia, discussing Edward.

This particular Wednesday he was more whiny than usual.

"...does he miss me?" He hesitated

"I—

"It's not like I miss him, but I bet he's missing me... right? Damn you Edward Cullen" he ranted.

Mia couldn't see him but she was sure he was laying on his stomach with his feet dangling in the air.

"Adrien, I think—

"Oh! One minute Mia, Phoenix is calling." And with that he hung up.

Mia let out a frustrated sigh and raked her fingers through her hair.

"Adrien?" Edward questioned, leaning against the door frame.

Mia and Edward still weren't on the best of terms so she merely rolled her eyes.

"Not you too" she said, frowning.

"I don't care about that twit, I've outgrown him" he raised a brow.

"Outgrow—

Mia scoffed.

"What other friends do you have?" She inquired.

He opened his mouth to speak then closed it, Mia smirked at the silence.

"Edward!" A voice yelled, soon after Phoenix came rushing into Mia's room, landing face first onto her bed.

Edward gave Mia a look that said 'see? Friend'.

Phoenix lifted his head from her mattress, he had a smug smile on his face and his hair laid messily across his forehead. The smile was wiped off of his face once he made direct eye contact with Mia.

A pain stabbed its way into Mia's head, she felt as though she should be remembering something, she shut her eyes tightly and let out a groan of pain.

Edward was at her side in seconds, "are you alright?" He said bending down to where she was sitting.

"Fine" she hissed through her teeth.

"Mia?" Edward said, he lifted her chin and probed her to open her eyes.

She complied and he studied her face carefully, still holding gently onto her chin.

Her headache stopped abruptly.

Edward furrowed his brows but stood up, he went back into his bored stare.

Mia looked up to find Phoenix leaning on the door. He started speaking animatedly to Edward, his gaze never straying in her direction.

"...told him to go out, clubbing, you know, to loosen up. I told him 'no calling' Del but I knew he wouldn't last a second, that's why I changed her number on his phone to my number" he smirked proudly, Edward stared blankly at him.

"Is that supposed to amuse me?" He raised a brow.

"Is that—

He scoffed, he was opening his mouth to speak again when the unmistakable sound of his phone buzzed.
