Third Person POV
The girl felt hopeless, and helpless. She stayed awake all night, tossing and turning, unable to get Sunwoo nor Seoho out of her head. She felt like she was right back at the beginning, like when she couldn't sleep because the two of them bombarded her head space and made nearly everything impossible.
She felt that hopeless - that she turned to the only person she could in that moment, and that was her mother.
The pair sat upon the couch, her head in her mothers lap as a drama played on the television in the background whilst she lightly braided her hair. It was rare they had moments like this, but her mother could see that her girl was upset and she wanted to try and make her forget about things.
"I won't ask you to tell me," her mother said, looking down gently at the girl. "You don't have to. I just would like to know if there's anything I can do to help."
Heiji couldn't stop the tears that rolled horizontally across her temples, letting out a small sob before her mother just simply held her, waiting for her to calm down.
She then told her everything. From start to finish. And her mother just listened with content, her heart also conflicted as she had known Seoho for as long as Heiji had been his friend. She was unsure about this Sunwoo guy she had just heard about, she wasn't exactly fond of how he tried to steal her daughter away from a situation she was happy in - but she knew that wasn't all his doing.
"You know what it sounds like to me, honey?" Her mother said gently, Heiji's glossy eyes looked up at the woman. "It sounds like you don't want to lose either of them."
"I don't," Heiji said between sniffles. "I really don't."
"However," her mother started, Heiji took a deep breath preparing to hear her words of wisdom, which could be something she wants to hear or something she definitely doesn't. "Just because Seoho has been your friend for a long time, it doesn't mean you owe him anything, for example - keeping your friendship."
Heiji nodded, staying silent. She could understand that, but it was pretty painful to think back on her high school years with her close friend and realise none of it really mattered in the long run.
"You must accept you hurt him too," her mother gently lifted another piece of the girls hair to pleat. "I know you, Heiji. You don't like the drama. The confrontation. Maybe you should consider that that is all these two boys have given you, aside from the lovely things."
Her words struck a chord in Heiji's heart, and they replayed in her head all night. Ever since Sunwoo came into her life, it was great, but it caused trouble. That wasn't to say he caused the trouble all of the time, but he was definitely a part of it, and so was Seoho.
She couldn't even begin to contemplate shutting him out of her life however. She had grown so fond of the boy ever since their first proper conversation, she had admired him for years. She didn't want to leave him, nor stop what was happening between them. The two had gone through so much trouble to get to where they were now, they had risked so much.
