DISCLAIMER: you guessed it, I STILL. don't own Harry Potter :(

The summer slowly ends and we hop back on the scarlet train on our way back to another year at Hogwarts. The sorting is a tad boring with an eventful speech from a prissy new teacher. Later, when I'm talking with Harry I find out, much to my disappointment, that she works for Fudge. The feast finishes off with the normal delicious desserts and we all head back to our dorms.

Daphne and I walk into the darkly-light dorm and I greet Luna who is curled up on one of the plush green armchairs. I put her into my lap and situate myself in the chair, Daphne sits on the ground, her head resting on the arm of the chair. After a few minutes of talk about our summers a dark haired girl with a tortuous smirk enters the common room.

"Well, well, what do we have here?" Pansy smirks, "Miss Mudblood sitting with her muggle cat!" Another girl in my dorm, Tracy Davis, a brainless girl who follows Pansys' every lead without question sniggers.

"Stick it Pansy!" I reply, angered at her remark about Luna. Daphne looks up hesitantly before looking back down at her book. Daphne is a good friend but I cannot rely on her to help me against Pansy as they are also friendly.

"Oooh does the Mudblood get mad?" Pansy asks her bottom lip sticking out, "poor baby.." I growl but don't get up, not wanting to give in to Pansys' teasing.

"Pansy!" A voice calls from the other side of the room. Draco stands up from his conversations with Blaise, "just leave it, will you?" He huffs before shooting me a quick smile and sitting back down. Pansy glares at me as I raise my eyebrows at her, she mutters something inaudible before stalking back into our dorm, Tracy following her. I smile, a bit confused at Draco's help and continue my conversation with Daphne.

The next day I attend Herbology then I meet up with Hermione, Ron, and Harry for Defense Against The Dark Arts which we share with the Gryfindors. We walk into the classroom to see the toad-like women grinning devilishly at us from behind her desk, she gets up from her desk and begins the lesson. After the lesson we walk out in a blur without Harry who is forced to stay behind and talk with Umbridge.

A womans screams echo around the stoney room. I stand huddled in the corner, unable to get up and help her. Somebody flings open the door and the screaming stops. A bright green light fills the room and I awake with a scream. I sit up and look around hoping that I didn't wake anybody. These nightmares have been happening for a while now but this one seemed so much realer. I stumble into the common room and sit down on a couch in front of the flickering fire. I steady my breathing and garb a blanket. After a few moments a sound comes from behind me, I quickly turn to see a familiar bleach-blonde head standing hesitantly behind me.

"Hi," I breathe.

"Hey," Draco croaks back, his voice husky. I notice that he has dark circles under his eyes and it looks as if he had been crying, "um, can I sit?"

I snap out of my trance and look down at the couch, "of course," I pat the spot next to me and he hesitantly sits.

"I'm sorry," he looks at me after a moment of silence, I tilt my head as he continues, "I'm sorry I've been awful in the past, and I'm sorry for never standing up for you in front of Pansy." He finishes breathlessly, "I've been awful to you without ever knowing you."

"You were awful because I'm a mudblood." I tell him bluntly.

He flinches, "don't call yourself that."

"You called me that, besides it's just a word, it's what I am."

"I hate that word."

"Draco, why? Why are you being so nice to me all of the sudden?"

He hesitates, "I-I guess, I just want to be friends, I feel awful, I don't even know why I was so horrid in the first place..." he trails off, that's when I notice a tear streaking silently down his face. Before I know what I'm doing I wrap my arms around him in a tight hug and he hugs back.

"It's alright, we were just children anyways."

"That doesn't make it ok," he breaks away from me and wipes his tears away, "But I promise I'll somehow make it up to you." He growls softly, I smile, "can we be friends?" He says, offering me his hand.

I look down at his hand and smirk, "on one condition," he raises an eyebrow, "you never call me, or anybody else, mudblood ever again."

"Deal," he says without hesitation. I shake his hand it sit back against the couch. I see him grin and sit back as well.

"So, why were you up?"

The quidditch pitch buzzes with the excited hum of spectators watching the Slytherin team tryouts. Last year I was one of our chasers so I'm fairly confident about tryouts this year. But, the amount of spectators makes me nervous. I spot Daphne sitting with her younger sister, Astoria and I wave towards them, Daphne smiles and waves back as does Astoria. I take a deep breath and prepare myself for a tough tryout.

I flew marvelously. I made almost all the goals I shot and my team won the scrimuage. I made one of the seeker spots and unsurprisingly Draco, who was also on my team, got the seeker position. The other chaser spots were filled by sixth years and Blaise, our keeper, who is also our captain, is a seventh year. Our beaters, Nott and a third year, are mediocre but hopefully with a bit of training they will shape up.

I'm really excited for the next few chapters! I'll be writing about a New Years ball that isn't traditionally in the Harry Potter series so the next couple chapters won't be following exactly on the original story-line.

Thanks for reading! :)))
