"And if I could just give it some time."

Jungkook's POV

"Let's break up," I said.

Her eyebrows raised as she bites her lip to keep her tears from escaping. Her eyes watered milliseconds after those three words and she looked up to avoid them from falling down. However, her attempt backfired and the tears streamed down her face before she broke out into a sob.

Each sob that escaped her mouth became a little tear in my heart.

The tears flowed so quickly, I wasn't able to catch any of them. I grabbed her face and pulled it down to look at me. My movement caused my banana milk to spill onto the floor.

"Jagii, look at me," I said.

She hiccuped as she looked down at me.

"You didn't let me finish," I continued. "Let's break up on June 10."

Jasmine's hand hesitated before coming to wipe tears I wasn't aware that was escaping.

"Why are you crying? You're breaking up with me," she said.

She gave me a sarcastic laugh before more tears streamed from her face.

"Because I don't want to break up with you", I responded. "Plus, I hate seeing you cry."

My voice cracked after every word.

"But I have to after we graduate, June 10. That's what PD discussed with me," I responded.

She sniffled.

"It's alright, I understand," she said. "I'm just glad you didn't say you were joking this time."

She remembered? Out of all the memories, she had to remember the one from when I attempted to break up with her. (the memory of this moment is in Chapter 11)

I leaned in and kissed her plump lips. Her lips didn't respond until a second later.

"I'm glad your memories are coming back," I said.

She smiled, but it looked broken against her partially tear-stained face.

"yeah," she said in a cracked voice.

I leaned my forehead against hers and closed my eyes.

For now, we are not broken up. If we were, I don't think I'd be able to function right now. I need some time to enjoy Jasmine and prepare my heart for the end of our love story.

After my confession and that incident, Jasmine and I spend more time with one another. During lunch, we eat in my car or her's. When I have practice, she's there in the practice room with me or the studio doing homework or watching me. She also plans on coming with my parents to drop me off at the airport, but she'll remain in the car where no one can see her.

Although I love being in her presence almost 24/7, the more I spend time with her, the faster time seems to go by. Before I knew it, Joshua's trial date is here, January 7th.

I am sitting in the wooden witness stand next to the judge in the courtroom. I am wearing a sleek black suit with a white button-down underneath. I keep my eyes on Jasmine, who sits across from me at the prosecution table with the prosecutor, to ease my nerves. Sitting in the witness stand versus the audience section is more nerve-racking.
