Chapter 44 - Engaging Announcements

Marriage is something that lots of people look forward to. They cannot wait to find their one and only person and to be bound to them for their entire lives. The feeling of waking up to that special someone every morning, possibly raise a family with them, to grow old with them, it's all stages that people look forward to.

Regardless of if you are straight, gay, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, transgender, non-binary, or many others, everyone is deserving of love. No matter what anyone tells you, everyone, including you, is deserving of love. So go out and find your special someone and never let them go.

Trust me, it'll be the best thing ever. Because when the time comes that you place a ring on your finger, you know that your forever with them is only beginning; and that there is so much goodness to come to you both. A new beginning, with your true love, is on the horizon.

The next morning I wake up bright and early because there's a lot to do today. I have to get to work, do a bust, and then later, Jace and I are attending the Dyer Family Gala. It was bumped back a month due to renovations being done on the hotel. But all in all, I'm so excited about the event. I enjoyed the gala last year and I'm excited to go back and be there again. Last year we were a hidden couple, we had to keep us a secret. But this year, everyone can know. And believe me, everyone will.

I manage to wake up at the crack of dawn and get some coffee made in Jace's suite. I try my best to be quiet, and luckily, Jace is a heavy sleeper. Once I have my coffee, I sit down at his kitchen table and look over the case file for today. There's not too much information on this bust, it's odd that we're even doing this so quickly. But, according to Director Scott, it's vital to get this person out of society.

This bust is so big that Billings and Paige are helping us out on it today. I still don't know where it's happening. Apparently, this guy was really good at hiding and Director Scott hasn't disclosed the location at the risk of a leak. It's all odd, but typically these busts are.

I read through the case files and within an hour, Jace comes stumbling out of bed, with messy hair and tired eyes. He gives me a kiss on the head and smiles.

"What are you doing?" He asks.

"Just looking over my case file for today. It's an important bust, better to be overly prepared than not prepared at all."

Jace appears to wake up a bit more at the talk of the bust and he pours himself some coffee before sitting down with me at the table. As I read over the files, he gets a head start at looking over his schedule for the day. It's a busy day for him, with lots of meeting with event planners for the gala.

It's been really stressing him out lately, but it'll all be worth it when we see how beautiful it all looks. Jace made it clear to me and the event planner that this year's gala was important because it's the first one with our relationship out in the open. And if it's important to him, it's important to me too. I can't wait to attend this gala as myself, and not Zoe Collins, not having to hide our relationship anymore. It's fantastic.

Soon after, I had to get ready for work so I went back into Jace's bedroom and got changed into my outfit for today. Jace still has about three hours before he has to leave for work, but he always wakes up early to see me off to work. He always does, he wants to make sure I know he loves me before I leave every day.

When I'm dressed for work, with my gun strapped around my waist and my badge with her, I meet Jace at the door, "The bust may go into my lunchtime, so I'm not sure if I can come for lunch today."

"That's perfectly fine, just do what you need to do."

I grab both of his hands and feel them shaking slightly. I put them between my two warm hands to try my best to warm him up. I begin to feel a little worried.
