Chapter 28 - The Holloways

Do you remember the first time that you realized you love someone? Do you remember how it felt and from that moment how everything changed? Chances are, you knew it before you recognized it. From a certain point, you notice that everything has changed around that person. You feel things that you've never felt before.

It hurts not to be around that person, it hurts not to talk to them, you love every little thing they do even if it's just eating, you want to spend every single moment with them. And nothing can ever pull you away from them.

It can be scary because you don't know how they feel. Do they love you back? Maybe, maybe not. And when there are obstacles in the way of you and your love, you'll jump through any hurdles to be with them. It may take a while to realize that you feel this way about someone, but once you do, you know you'll do anything to keep them. Anything.

Jace and I's relationship is now stronger than ever. Our relationship is great and we trust each other, well, as much as we can. Also, Jax hasn't let it slip about my secret. I am forever grateful for that.

Jace and I seem to be spending more and more time together every day. We welcomed in the New Year together and celebrated with a bottle of champagne and a New Year's kiss. It's amazing, I never thought I'd be going into the New Year with someone as amazing as Jace. This is going to be the best and the worst year ever, depending on how events go.

Things have been the same with Cobra work, we haven't gotten anything done, and I'm afraid I may have been ghosted by Mrs. Abbot. I've contemplated calling her once or twice, but I didn't. I was starting to feel doubt that I'd ever hear from her again, but that was before I received an email in my inbox from Caroline Abbot.

I'm sitting at my desk in the field office, wearing my uniform, and going over some paperwork when my computer dings with an email alert. I click on the email and inside find multiple attachments. I call Billings, Cam and Paige over to my desk.

"What's going on?" Cam asks.

"I just got a hell of a lot of attachments from Mrs. Abbot."

I click on the first attachment which has many contracts and deals documents all showing proof of the Holloway's embezzlement. Next, there's a video attachment from CCTV footage. I click on it and we watch it.

It's a video of Elena Holloway in a room with some men, they're sitting down at a conference room table and talk. The video doesn't have any sound so all I can do is analyze their facial expressions.

The conversation starts off okay, but it gets more intense. Elena looks worried and begins to leave the room but one of the men pulls her back and takes out a gun and holds it to her head. There's a brief confrontation, the men tell her some things and Elena nods her head worriedly and they release her. She rushes to the door and leaves.

The next video does have sound, luckily. It's a conversation between Elena, Richard, and Teresa Holloway.

"This deal is with a powerful Italian vendor, it must go according to plan," Richard says.

Elena nods, "What is this deal for?"

"That is none of your concern, if this deal is made then everything will work out for us," Teresa says.

The conversation ended quickly after and neither of them mentioned a gun being held to Elena's head. I think for a moment but Cam blurts something out.

"The Italian Mafia! Didn't someone say that Elena was almost killed in a deal with the Italian Mafia?"

I slowly nod my head and think about what asshole these parents are. Sending their daughter into a line of fire with dangerous mafia bosses.
