As I was standing in front of Y/N's front door on Saturday afternoon, I suddenly became pretty nervous. That was something I did not know from myself. Hopefully this nervousness will subside before something stupid happens to me.
I took a deep breath and rang the doorbell. It took only a few seconds until the door was opened by a beaming Y/N. She looked so gorgeous in her tight dark jeans, simple red shirt and leather jacket.
"Hi, Adam. Are you okay?" she asked me and I realized that I had been staring unintentionally.
"Hi, Y/N. Yeah, I'm fine. And you? I was just thinking. Are you ready to go?" I replied after clearing my throat.
"Yes, I am and you really don't need to be so nervous. I won't bite. Well...unless you want me to bite you, of course." Y/N said laughing and winked at me.
"I'm not nervous," I automatically said in defense when I opened the car door for her and she got in.
"Sure. Keep telling yourself that. So, are you going to tell me what we're doing?" she replied after I got behind the wheel and started the car.
"Well, I hope this doesn't sound too creepy, but I did a little research on you. You know, in interviews and stuff. In one of them you mentioned how much you love dogs and that you miss the dog from your childhood so much. So I thought we could spend the afternoon in a dog shelter. They are always looking for volunteers to walk and play with the dogs," I explained.
"Oh, my God. That's a great thought, Adam. I think that's a really original idea for a first date. And I promise you I'll forget the part where you practically stalked me," she said laughing and reached for my hand. I had to admit that it felt really great.
The entire way to the dog shelter we spent to talk about all kinds of things. There was not a single moment of awkward silence. I found it incredibly easy to talk to Y/N and that helped me to overcome my nervousness.
When we arrived at the dog shelter we got a quick briefing and then spent some great hours playing with the two dogs assigned to us.
Blossom, a Golden Retriever Mix immediately took Y/N into her heart and never left her side. Her buddy Ace was a bit more reserved. Nevertheless, both dogs showed that they enjoyed it as much as we did. While Ace and Blossom were concentrating on Y/N I managed to take some cute pictures. My favorite photo was definitely the one of Blossom licking Y/N over the face while Y/N laughed.
Time flew by and much too fast it was time to go. After we had cleaned up quickly, we went back to the car together. I was really glad that Y/N obviously enjoyed the afternoon very much and had to admit that I was quite proud of my idea.
Arriving at the car Y/N asked me a question that I had not expected at all.
"Thanks Adam. That was absolutely perfect. I can assure you right now that this was the best first date I ever had. And no matter what you have planned for now, I want to already thank you for this great day," she said and gave me a kiss on the cheek. But then she stayed there and whispered in my ear.
"So, tell me how long you've had a crush on me?" she whispered in a seductive tone.
"W-what?" I stuttered.
"You heard me, Adam. How long?" she asked and now looked me firmly in the eyes.
"Um...Well...I guess since I first saw you, to be honest. So about a year and a half. Why do you ask?" I confessed to her quietly.
"That long? Well, I have to admit I feel the same way. I always waited for you to make the first step, but since that didn't happen, I took matters into my own hands," said Y/n and placed her hands in mine.
"What do you mean?" I did not understand what she was getting at.
"Let me put it this way...it was not a coincidence that the zipper on my top didn't work and it was not a coincidence that I chose you to help me either," she replied smiling. Before I had the chance to answer her, she had already pressed her lips against mine.
It was an exhilarating feeling. Not to compare with anything I have ever experienced in my life. Time stopped making sense. I had no idea how long we just stood there kissing.
After a while Y/N pulled away and smiled at me with a content smile.
"All right...Where do we go now?" she wanted to know after a brief moment. I needed a second to sort out my thoughts and remember what I had planned next.
"Oh, yes. I have everything we need for a picnic in the trunk. I thought we could find a nice quiet place at one of the lakes and let the evening fade away. How does that sound?" I explained to Y/N.
"Perfect. It sounds perfect. You did a good job with your research," she replied.
And that is exactly what we did. We spent hours talking, laughing and kissing. Even though neither of us wanted to, it was time to end the evening. I drove Y/N home and accompanied her to the door.
"Thank you again, Adam, for this wonderful and unforgettable day," she said.
"No. Thank you Y/N." I replied and leaned over so I could kiss her. Already I could not get enough of her.
"You know what is even better than a good night kiss?" she asked as she unlocked the door.
"No. What is better?" I wanted to know from her.
"A good morning kiss," she replied as she reached for my hand again and pulled me into her house.
