Chapter Twenty-four
"Are you okay?" Jae asked after arriving at the mansion for dinner. I was spacing out sitted on the chair at the dining hall. I threw him a quick glance and nodded my head unconsciously."Something's up," he concluded. I saw him putting down his black sling bag as he undone his coat leaving him with only white shirt. I sighed and slowly nodded my head afterwards.
"The new guy... named Eunsang, he said something weird awhile ago," I started saying. "He knows something and told Haruto to prepare himself to lose me in exchange of that information," Jae furrowed his brows. "You believe that new comer?"
New comer. And yet, I'm thinking about believing him.
"You're worrying yourself over nothing, Jeongwoo. You're ugly frowning," he started teasing, trying to console me. I just let out a soft chuckle. But still not over my thoughts.
Mrs. Yoon came from the kitchen with her usual black apron on, her lips smiling carrying a black tray filled of foods. Jihoon and Mom went from upstairs together.
This is not usual. We've been busy that we couldn't afford to have a meal together.
"Watanabe Family is coming," Mrs. Yoon informed. I wasn't surprise and expected it since Haruto was nagging me about having a dinner in our mansion.
But after hearing what Mrs. Yoon said, my mom made a loud noise from her glasses falling off the ground.
"Mom, are you okay?" Jihoon panicked as he held our mother's hand which is bleeding from the broken glass. Upon hearing the Watanabe Family's arrival, she was bothered. Even trembling.
I was stunned too but she flashed a sloppy smile, nodding her head. "I.. just didn't expect them... to come," her eyes were shaking. I arched my brows, that's something unusual for her to say because she often insists to ask the family to come.
"Mom, what is really going on?" I asked without blinking. I saw her gulped, hard. "Woo... let's give Mom time to think of telling us, okay?" Jihoon said, smiling to lift up the mood. I saw my mom's expression, she's extremely bothered. I don't know what's happening with her. I have no clue at all. One thing's for sure, the reason behind it is heavy.
My mom excused herself and gone to her room. After awhile, the Watanabe Family came.
"Where's eonni?" Mrs. Watanabe asked. Jihoon threw me a glance. "She's not feeling well, Tita," my brother responded. "Is she sick?" Mr. Watanabe asked, guiding Haesoo to sit beside his seat. I nodded my head "She's been feeling sick lately. Maybe she just needs some rest," flashing a smile, I earned a nod from Mr. Watanabe.
Haruto came inside just a minute. I don't know how he could possibly lift up my mood effortlessly. He looks good with his usual black polo and black pants. As soon as he came in, he was already looking at me. Something usual but my heart couldn't stop fluttering, still.
Jae cleared out his throat. Jihoon imitated him afterwards as Mrs. Yoon were silently chuckling which made Mr. and Mrs. Watanabe exchanged glances.
"Why are you frowning?" Haruto asked after we had the chance to talk after dinner. I smiled at him, trying to shrug off my thoughts away about what Eunsang said awhile ago.
I felt his hand on my back as he gently pulled me for a hug. He looks tired too and I feel bad for acting like some kid he needs to look after.
"You're taking to heart what that guy said, I can see," He said, his lips pursed into thin line. I closed my eyes, weakened. I hate that I'm overly sensitive and I hate that I am becoming more possessive over Haruto. Losing him? Not even on my list.
