'So...', Millie sighed once again, not knowing how to begin. For more than a month, they've spoken over the phone every night, save the one night they actually spent together, and yet, there she was, lost at how to start up a conversation with him.

Finn cleared his throat before murmuring, 'Um... I... uh... I didn't think you'd call', he himself was feeling slightly on edge since this was the first time they've spoken after their scene today. She went home after their last take was over without a proper goodbye, she just waved from a distance and ran off whilst he was busy talking to Shawn about what he was to film next.

Knowing this was probably going to be a long conversation, in order to make the holding of the phone a little easier on her arm, she flipped over onto her side, and after a couple of seconds of saying nothing, she asked, 'Would you have called if I hadn't?'

'I've been cowardly staring at your phone number on my phone ever since I came to lay down', he said, running his fingers through his hair as he stared at the ceiling, 'So, I don't actually know'.

'And how long ago was that?', she chuckled despite her nerves chewing her up on the inside, as she found his little confession to be quite cute.

'Um... About ten minutes I suppose'.

'Wow', she instinctively raised her eyebrows, 'I'm that scary to talk to?'

'Well', he started nervously, 'I know I screwed up a bit today, so, yeah... facing you is scary'.

'You're in luck then', she shrugged her shoulders, feeling the weight fall off of them as their talk took its natural flow, like it always did with the two of them, no matter how they felt inside, 'You're not facing me, are you? Talking over the phone is easier'.

He hummed as he thought through what she said, 'Nope... it's pretty much the same', he countered with a shake of his head, 'Texting would be easier'.

She then rolled onto her back, her brows creased together, 'Do you... want me to hang up and text you?'

'No, no!', he yelled out, then lowered his voice after he remembered that his dad was sleeping just across the hall, 'I wanna talk'.

'Me too', she sighed in relief, knowing just how much she despised texting, 'Um, so...', she started, feeling it was time to get to the main reason behind her call, 'There's this... rule we have in my family where... we never leave a fight unresolved before going to sleep, so I... yeah, I um...'

Finn noticed her struggling to finish her thought, so he interrupted her stutters, 'I... I didn't realize we had... a fight'.

'Well, it wasn't a fight, per se', she trailed off, worriedly biting onto her lip, 'But... I was... hurt by what you said'.

The boy sighed, closing his eyes tightly, 'Does that mean you're mad at me then?'

'I'm not mad, Finnie' she exhaled loudly, 'I just... I don't want us to keep bringing our past back up whenever there's an argument or something. I want us to let the past go'

He found himself nodding ferociously as if she could somehow see him, 'I can do that'.

'But don't just push it back, okay?', she jumped in, scared that he'll only mask his worries because of her, 'That's not what I want. We need to solve it so that it doesn't come back to bite us in the arse later'.

'Arse', he couldn't help but laugh as he mocked her 'Britishness', for what had to be the millionth time since he had met her, 'Sorry, yeah, let's talk about our past...er... dates and then never bring them up again'.

'Okay, let's start with our... dates', she breathed, trying to shake off her nerves a little bit, 'What do you want to know?'

She could hear Finn's soft breathing on the other line as he tried to think of where to start and how to phrase the questions roaming through his mind. She feared this conversation a bit, because she knew that talking about past relationships could be quite dangerous, but she still had hope that her and Finn were mature enough to handle it.
