Tuesday, the 22nd of September - around 4 AM

Getting a phone call in the early hours of the morning, when even the birds are still asleep, is always nerve-wracking, no matter who's calling. Seeing your little sister's name flashing before your drowsy eyes at that hour is even worse. But, when you hear someone else's voice instead of your sister's coming through that phone line, your slowed, lagging brain is automatically alarmed and expecting of the worst possible news.

By the time she had even realized who was talking, Paige had already seen her baby sister fighting for her life on a hospital bed. She blew through the apartment like a raging tornado, not caring about the mess she was leaving behind and barely even registering what Finn was saying on the other line.

She gathered some bits here and there, slowly connecting the dots as she sped down the highway. Millie - panic attack - crying - driving home. When she was about halfway there, she managed to let go of the stress she was feeling just enough to ask Finn to explain to her, in detail, exactly what had happened.

It was then that she heard some shuffling in the background and the whispered words 'I'll be right outside if you need me', before Finn finally spoke up, 'Sorry, I had to leave our trailer, I didn't want to her to listen to everything again. I'm not sure how she'll react'.

Not sure how she'll react. Those words rang through Paige's head making her press just a little harder on the gas peddle. Was her sister in such a fragile state that Finn is going out of his way to make sure nothing agitates her furthermore? Even the tone he took when talking to Millie didn't escape her notice. It was a soft, gentle, almost insecure sounding voice; as if she was a fragile glass he was afraid of breaking if he spoke any louder.

'Is she okay, Finn?'

There was a pause as the teen took a shaky breath in. He's been trying hard to keep it together for as long as Millie's been around him. He'll allow himself to break down only once she's in Paige's safe hands; until then - he has to stay strong for her. 'I... guess... I don't know, Paige. She's just sitting curled-up on the couch and staring at her nails as she's picking on them. But, that's better than crying and screaming, so... I don't know...', he sighed, 'Are you close?'

'I'll be there in about ten minutes. Now, please just tell me what happened', the young woman said hurriedly and then quietly listened to the young man explain everything that they had gone through just in the last hour alone.

Paige knew her sister wasn't doing well these days and it was only a matter of time before that culminated into something bigger than just tortured nights. But that didn't make hearing the details of Millie's pain any easier to digest. If anything, it only made her feel all the more guilty for not being able to do anything to help prevent that.

'Thank you so much for convincing her to let you call me. I shudder to even imagine what could've happened had she driven herself back home in that state', Paige said just as she was pulling into the parking lot and then turned the engine off, ready to jump out of the car right away.

'Lucky I somewhat learned how to deal with her stubborn-ass', Finn exhaled something barely resembling a laugh.

'That sure is a handy skill to have', Paige paused as she used her pass to get into the yard where all the trailers were parked, 'Alright, I'm almost there, I just need to find your trailer. Can you get her ready?'
