Chapter 11: Mother

This was getting to be one heck of a day.

2D opened the door to Ven's room and saw them sitting on the floor, playing monopoly.

"'Ello, guys." He greeted with his toothy grin.

"Herro, Toochie!" Noodle chirped.

"Is everything ok?" Ven asked.

"Yeah, but the guys went to Portland to see one of Russ' friends. Someone named Daveed came an'-"

"Daveed?" Ven repeated.

"Yeah, he's dealing wiff... A demon too. We fink. Eraqus is here too, but the rest of them left."

"So... We're alone?" Noodle said, a bit of nervousness in her voice.

"No, of course not." Ven reassured, pulling her in close. "We have each other, and that's enough to keep us safe for now."

Noodle seemed calmed by his words, and began to smile again.

2D saw the moment that they were having, and decided that they needed some more time together.

"I'll... Leave yew two alone for a bit. 'Ey gotta go check in wiff Eraqus."

The singer closed the door, leaving Ven and Noodle, who were now quiet in the room.

"So... Who's Daveed?" Noodle asked, breaking the silence.

"Oh, just a friend from New York. I wonder what he had to talk with Aqua and Terra about... And why they had to leave."

"Maybe he wants to help Murdoc."

Ven shrugged. "I don't know. All I know is that you're here, and that's what matters right now."

Noodle smiled, outside and inside. Should she tell him that she liked him? What would he respond with? Would it backfire?

Those were the thoughts she had as Ven held her closer to him. What she didn't know, is that he was having those same thoughts about her.

"Hey, um... Noodle?"

"Yes?"

"I just, uh... Wanted to say... I know it hasn't been that long since we met, but... I like you. A lot. You're nice, you're caring, funny and... Just a really good friend. I know you probably d-"

"I like you too, Ven-kun." She replied, grinning.

Ven stared back at her, almost shocked. "W-wait... Really?" He stuttered.

"Yeah!"

Ven pulled her in for a huge hug, happy to hear those words.

"So... Are we, like... A thing now?" He asked.

"What do you mean?" She replied innocently.

"Like, are we... Together? Like... In a relationship?"

"Do you want that?"

Ven grinned. "Yes! Of course, I was just asking if you were ok with that."

Noodle nodded. "You know, Toochie told me that he thought you liked me after you left, and ever since then, I was waiting to hear you say something like that once we got here."

Ven raised his eyebrows. "Wait, 2D could tell?"

"You would be surprised how much he does know." She said, laughing.

Meanwhile, outside of the door, 2D stood listening to the conversation, chuckling to himself.

Noodle finally had someone other than the band, and that made him happy. The bluenette continued downstairs to check in with Eraqus. He hoped the others were doing ok.
