Mother.
"Daimon, no. Are you crazy?"
"Possibly."
Ana scoffed. "I can't believe you would say something like this. Mother is not inside a werewolf who is in New York. Why would Mother go through all that trouble to go to New York, find a werewolf of all strange creatures, get Russel and his friends to come to us, just to lure you?"
"Or maybe God's calling on me and telling me that I need to take care of this problem."
The sister laughed dryly. "God would never call on us for something like that."
"Either way, I should check it out."
"What about mom? You need to be here for her."
"And I will be. Once I help them with this. Besides, Terra can teleport apparently, so I'll be back in no time."
"Ugh, you are unbearable, Daimon! Can you think of someone else's interests instead of your own for once?"
Daimon looked her in the eyes. "I am. Do you not see that?"
With that, he walked away from Ana, and towards Terra. "C'mon, let's try to find this animal."
Gabriella peeked out to see what was going on, then realized what Daimon was doing. She quickly ran over to stop him, but it was too late.
"Daimon wai-... And he's gone."
Hastings walked out of the hospital room and saw the nun-in-training.
"He left?"
"Teleported away with them."
"You gotta be kidding me."
"I'm not."
"I know."
They turned to Ana. "What'd he say to you?"
"He thinks Mother is inside the werewolf."
"Well, it's not unlike Daimon to think that." Hastings replied wryly.
"But now he's gone. Mom needs him, and he left."
Gabriella sighed. "It's like we all said. He's not in a good mood, so he's gonna make quick decisions like that without thinking."
"But... What if he's right?" Hastings spoke up.
Ana darted her eyes to the woman. "You actually believe him?"
"I don't know, he could be wrong. But he could also be right. Who knows? Mother has done some insane things in the past... Like possess Victoria."
"Oh, please don't make this about Victoria!" Ana shouted, clearly upset with the whole thing.
"Guys, calm down!" Gabriella interrupted.
"So, let's say he's wrong. If he's wrong, he'll come back, broken, and sad because he couldn't find Mother. But then he'll be happy to see Victoria. But if he's right..."
"Then he's gonna be getting himself into trouble." Hastings finished. "Ana, you need to go after him."
"Yeah, well there's one small problem. By the time I can actually get to New York, they might be back here already."
"He has his phone on him, right?"
"Well, yeah. I would think so."
"Then we'll track it. You go find your brother."
Ana took a deep breath, and thought about it. Then she nodded. "Just let me say goodbye to my mom first."
The Helstrom daughter walked into the hospital room and looked down at her mother.
