all you had to do was stay

TRIGGER WARNING- self harm and suicide

"hey babes how we doing in here?" beck asked walking in.

"cat!" he yelled leaning in to hug her.

"beckett!!" she squealed hugging him back. jade kinda stared awkwardly, seeing the two people she loved hug was weird. like when you used invite two different groups of friends to a birthday party when you were a kid.

after the rest of the group had come in and seen and talked to cat tori looked down at her watch.

"jeez it's late cat we gotta go" she said looking sorry.

"it's ok guys see you soon!" she said in her usual high voice.

"wait jade stay" cat blurted out cashing jade to stop in her tracks.

"i'll pull the car around" beck reassured her as he walked out.

"yes babygirl?" she asked raising one eyebrow.

"do you promise to come back tomorrow?" cat pleaded her eyes widening.

"i promise kitty cat" jade answered her eyes softening. she put her hands on either side of cat and leaned down kissing her. her lips tasted slightly of blood but jade didn't care. cat grabbed the back of jades hair, making it hard for jade to pull away.

"hey jade i—" beck suddenly walked in. jade blasted away from cat, stumbling on the hospital chair.

"what. the. actual. fuck." beck exclaimed emphasizing each word. jade shut her eyes tightly hoping to just wake up to a bad dream. but that hope was crushed quickly as beck angrily walked towards her.

"shit shit shit" jade half whispered under her breath quietly.

"ya shit shit shit is right" beck repeated after her.

"look" she said sternly, not moving her ground.

"no don't look jade. i'm supposed to have you in the palm of my hand." he slammed down the words like knives. he felt his heart breaking piece by piece.

"WHY DID YOU HAVE TO LOCK ME OUT THE SECOND I LET YOU IN?!" he screamed at her making her inhale sharply.

"IM SORRY BECK IM SO SO SORRY" she sobbed falling to the ground. he watched as she slowly crumbled to the ground, her black hair enclosing her like a shell. she looked up at him from the ground.

"i- i... i" she stuttered, being interrupted by her own cries. words seemed to hard to get out as she tried to think of something to say anything.

"beck i didn't mean for this to happen" she managed to say. he had become slightly calmer and able to ask her a rational question.

"just tell me everything. the whole story jade. no more lies or secrets. tell me every fucking thing that happened." he demanded and she nodded in agreement.

"when we broke up the first time and moose came in town we slept together. i initiated it but i did it because i was mad you had dumped me, kinda. i don't know it was dumb and i was being stupid. fast forward to when my stupid drunk self LEGIT TOLD YOU" she told the story and beck smiled, laughing lightly at the memory of drunk jade.

"and then you got all mad and i stormed out and went to cats. then the whole vega thing and i got so mad i was gonna go find moose but then cat was there and we hooked up all night and i thought since you were with vega that we broke up but i didn't know. then you said it was a fake date and i felt so guilty. that's when i realized i was in love with both of you and here we are and i've been confused and crying for a week straight." she spilled out the words like a flood that had been waiting to flow for a week now. beck stood there, speechless.

"this isn't love" he pointed to jade and cat.

"you don't know what this is" jade replied looking disgusted.

"ya tell him jade!" cat piped up from her hospital bed.

"YOU stay out of this" beck pointed to cat his eyebrows raising. her but back her bottom lip quickly.

"don't tell her what to do" jade spat back.

"and why shouldn't i?" he asked tilting his head.

"god you are so difficult" she mumbled looking away from him.

that's when it sunk in for beck . she didn't love him. not at all. she felt obligated to be with him. god this was the worst feeling he'd ever felt. the girl he loved was in love with someone else. and there wasn't a fucking thing he could do about it. he legs felt stiff as he looked up at her.

"you don't love me anymore" he said flatly, tears on the edge of his eyes. she opened her mouth slightly.

"YOU DONT LOVE ME ANYMORE" he shouted making cat shiver a little bit.

"god how could i be so STUPID" he yelled grabbing his head.

"I DIDNT EVEN REALIZE THE GIRL I WAS SPENDING EVERYDAY WITH, LOVED SOMEONE ELSE" his voice echoed through the room.

"great jade thanks for wasting 3 years of my life" he shot at her opening the door.

"beck i-" she tried to say but he cut her off.

"i'm leaving." he said sternly slamming the door on his way out. cat grabbed jades hand tightly squeezing it. suddenly there was a commotion outside the door. jade opened it but only heard the loud voices of concerned nurses.

"son put that down. YOU DONT WANNA DO THIS. you have so much to live for. think about this. it's all gonna be ok" they said.

jade turned the corner to se beck standing in the middle of the white room, holding a knife against his neck.

"I HAVE NOTHING TO LIVE FOR!" he screeched before slicing the knife along his throat and jade could only watch as the fresh blood dripped form his throat.
