yellow coldplay
"cause you are my yellow."

ash drove us home quietly. the car filled with the sounds of music and laughter.

it slowly began raining as we got closer and closer to my house.

we stayed listening to the radio, every once in a while singing out a lyric the radio would play.

until we heard the opening guitar chords of a very specific song.

the opening guitar chords to our song.

the opening guitar chords to yellow.

ashton quickly looked over to me to see my smile. he turned the car into an empty parking lot, quickly throwing it into park, turning the radio up, and jumping out.

he ran around to my side, opening my door and pulling me out of the car and into the rain.

"what are you doing, ash?" i asked through laughter as he pulled me infront of the car, the headlights and streetlights our only source of light.

"look at the stars, look how they shine for you. and everything you do," he sung to me as our eyes wandered the world above.

"yeah, they were all yellow," i sang back, bringing my hands up to rest behind ashtons neck.

"i came along, i wrote a song for you, and all the things you do," he sang to me, slowly bringing his hands to my hips.

i swear i felt murphy set his hands on my hips until i looked back up to see ashtons smile, completely obliterating any memory trying to push through.

"and it was called yellow," i sang back, him beginning to sway us back and forth.

"so then i took my turn, oh what a thing to have done," he continued to sing as the rain soaked both of us.

"and it was all yellow," i continued.

"your skin, oh yeah, your skin and bones, turn in to something beautiful," we sang together, bring our foreheads together to rest on one another.

"and you know, you know i love you so," he sang to me louder than all the other lyrics, staring straight into my eyes.

there was no way it was just him singing the lyrics. the way he said it, and the way he looked into my eyes, it couldnt have just been part of the song.

i swear he had just told me he loved me.

"you know i love you so," i sang back, hoping he understood i meant it as more than a song lyric too.

because i loved him too.

"i swam across. i jumped across for you. oh what a thing to do," he continued singing, moving our feet to slow dance through the rain.

"cause you were all yellow," i sang back.

"i drew a line. i drew a line for you, oh what a thing to do," he sang as the rain began to drench every inch of us.

"and it was all yellow," i sang back as i moved my head to look up at him, our foreheads still together.

"your skin, oh yeah, youre skin and bones. turn in to something beautiful," we sang together.

"and you know, for you id bleed myself dry," he sang to me, staring straight into my eyes.

"for you, id bleed myself dry," i sang back.

we broke apart as the guitar began to build. i started jumping up and down, letting the music take over, completely letting go. i spun in circles letting the rain hit every inch of me.

i felt complete happiness.

i felt alive.

"its true, look how they shine for you," i yelled at the top of my lungs towards the sky.

"look how they shine for you," ashton yelled after me letting go just like me.

we came back together, resting our heads against each other once again.

"oh look how they shine," he sang quietly to me, bringing our lips closer and closer together.

the rain continued to move around us, even as time froze for me. i could feel ashtons lips almost touching mine as he held our foreheads together.

"can i kiss you?" he whispered, his lips barely missing mine as they moved to speak.

"yeah," i huffed as the music continued to build.

it was like the movies, where the panorama shot goes around them, and you can see how pretty the area they were in was.

except there was no pretty background.

we were in an empty parking lot at 11pm, in the pouring rain, our only light coming from his jeep head lights.

but i didnt care where we were.

cause i had my first kiss.

it was like how they described it in books and songs. time froze. it was only us two. as soon as we connected you could feel the sparks flying.

his kiss was so gentle yet filled with so many emotions. our mouths simply molded to each other, like we were made for the other.

it was like i was the kindle and he was the lighter. and when we connected that spark lit, lighting the fire underneath us.

the question was who was gonna get burned?

we pulled apart slowly, bringing our eyes back to each other.

"look at the stars," he began singing to me as the smile built on my face. "look how they shine for you, and all the things you do."

he was right.

in this moment, the stars did shine for me.

they sure as hell shined for me.

the music died out as we continued to dance through the rain.

"cause you are my yellow," he sang with no music to me as i buried my head in his chest. i had to cover up the pure happiness spread across my face.
