Chapter 12
"Where should I put this, Kai? Ano ba kasing laman nito? Did you bring all your unnecessary stuff here? Dapat hinayaan mo na lang itambak 'yon sa storage room," Millarca retorted as she helped me move out today from the mansion.
I just pointed her to the corner where she can drop the box carelessly. She helped me packed up all these boxes so hindi ko rin alam kung anong pinaglalagay niya sa ibang mga kahon.
"Sure, I will," Millarca acknowledged. She put the box down on the corner, just like what I told her. She wiped the sweat on her forehead using the back of her hand. "Why didn't you get a mover or anyone—a guy who works to do this kind of job, Kai? It would be easy, honestly."
I shrugged off. "I don't need it. I can do this by myself," I answered. I hope it was as clear as possible as I spoke.
She sighed and nodded. "Yes, you're right. Pero hindi rin naman masamang humingi ng tulong kung ganito ba naman karami ang gamit na dinala mo, 'no? Kulang na lang kunin mo na lahat ng gamit sa mansyon at ilipat dito. But, oh well, this is gonna be your new home kaya you should feel at home."
"Yeah, but we should stop talking now or else we won't finish," I chuckled. We continued taking all the boxes from the car and put them inside the apartment. This will take forever but it'll be worth it.
We were on that routine for about another twenty minutes until we finished settling all my stuff inside my new roof. Makalat pa. Hindi pa gano'ng kaaya-aya ang hitsura. But this feels right. It already made me feel at home.
"I'm so hungry, Kai," Millarca grunted as she crouched on the floor. Wala pa kasing sofa o kung ano mang furniture. The chair has been occupied by boxes din. "I hope dumating na kaagad 'yong delivery driver. Dapat pala kanina pa tayo nagpa-deliver. It'll take them an hour pa naman minsan."
She immediately attended to the person behind the door. I stayed in my seat while my eyes sat on the screen of my phone. I'm just informing Mom that we're finally done moving my stuff then in the next few days, the furniture she bought for my apartment will be delivered as well.
We already paid for it so what's the delay?
"Kai?" she finally called me.
Tumayo ako sa kinauupuan ko, still not looking to her direction.
"Someone's here for you," she announced. I raised my head to her and then the person who stood on the doorstep. Napakunot pa ang noo ko dahil hindi ko pa namukhaan ang babaeng 'yon but then she became familiar to me with her eyes and then those smiles that I missed.
