Chapter 11
After all these years, I continued fighting the same demon. And my life depends on where I stood now... behind the railings of the bridge. Or maybe it's the other side of it?
But it's not worth it.
That's what I thought as I leaned over the bridge. I have been in my darkest days pero hindi ko pipiliing kitilin ang buhay ko dahil lamang sa nangyari. I know that I will always be at fault there pero over the years, natatanggap ko naman na ako talaga 'yong problema at hindi sila. I turned to be the problem. I wore it like a crazy fashion show.
And the fact that it changed me as a person, it became a mark of my horrible past.
Amidst those hurtful things that were thrown at me, I chose not to give up. I know that there's a better opportunity for me that serves a greater purpose. Hindi 'ko pa man nakikita ang kasukdulan. And even though I kept asking for the signs, sa maling direksyon pa rin ata ako napupunta.
I finished my four-year college course and finally got a degree in business. I should be proud of that because I was the only one in my college who had a disability and people admired me for my persistence and courage to do something out of the box. I should be. Hindi laging nakaaahon sa iisang bagay.
For the past years, I continued learning even though I kept on making mistakes. Just like what I did earlier, alam ko na kung anong gagawin ko ngayon.
"Kai?!"
I saw Millarca stepping out of her car. Nagmamadali siyang tumakbo papunta sa akin. She immediately asked if something was wrong with me or if I harmed myself. I shook my head to confirm that there's nothing bad that had happened to me.
"What are you doing here?"
And I didn't get to understand what she said because my mind has been going all around. My device ran out of battery so I can't hear anything right now other than feeling the vibrations from the ground. I can't even understand her lips. My mind won't participate with me right now.
"I'm fine, Millarca," I spoke but I don't know if I made a sound.
"Let's stand up," aniya. "What are you even thinking, Kai?"
What do you think? She tried to gesture what she said as much as she could and I read her lips moving to know what she's talking about.
