I was limping and still holding my side, with Ganke giving me a supporting hand. He had helped me up the stairs and into the living room, allowing me to rest on the wall.
I was assuming that mom was out campaigning because the lights were out. That was great in my opinion.
I really didn't want her to see that I was, her son, a maskless Spider-Man, severely battered and bruised.
I didn't want to mess up the relationship between my mom and I, like I did with Phin.
"I'm gonna go grab some washcloth and antibiotics." Said Ganke quietly, looking at me.
I had just nodded at him because I was in so much pain and discomfort.
"Alright." I hoarsely replied, still leaning agianst the wall for support.
Ganke reached for the door and had left the room, politely shutting it as he left me alone.
My breathing was slowing down and I had felt like I was fading. The fists that Phin had used to knock the life out of me were shielded by heavy metallic guantlets or gloves of some sort.
Whatever they were, it hurt, and it was possibly the key hint as to why I felt like I was fading.
Suddenly, the lights had turned on. It had scared me for a second.
"Miles?" Came my mom's voice from the living room.
Oh man, now's she's gonna find out and probably never let me do this again. I messed up big time. I sighed, raising my head up in disbelief.
There was nowhere I could go. I was too weak to move and hide.
I guess she was gonna learn the hard way that I was Harlem's Spider-Man.
"Where have you-?" Began to ask my mom, now coming from the corner to meet my battered-self.
She had looked at me for roughly a minute before resuming with what she was wanting to say.
She had seen me against the wall and had widened her eyes.
"¿Que pasó?" Asked my mom in a worried voice, now running up to me and holding the side of my head.
Mom was leaning in for a a hug and had moved back, after realising that I was wearing my Spider-Man suit.
She must have thought she was hallucinating and had blinked a couple times to ensure it wasn't a hallucination.
Man, I felt so bad for her and it was my fault for putting myself in harm's way to worry her.
"What are you wearing?" Finally asked my mom, who was still looking at the logo on my suit.
I had paused for a minute to catch my breath.
"I have to tell you something." I breathed, meeting my mom's eyes as I did so.
