9: Teo's Bodega

I was asleep the next morning, peacefully minding my own business and enjoying the comfort of peace and quiet.

All was going great until my phone decided to start buzzing incessantly, causing me to mumble and groan.

I had then rubbed my eyes and had taken a look at my phone. It said I had one voicemail from mom. I unlocked my phone and had pressed the voicemail.

"Hola, Miles! I just wanted to tell you that I'll be stuck in another campaign meeting, so can you please get some groceries for dinner tonight-plus coconut milk from Teo's Bodega?"

I went onto my messages and replied "Sure ma'". Hopefully she had seen it.

She seemed to be very busy these days. Guess that's revenge for me hardly spending any time with her, I guess.

Great. That had meant that I had two things on my list; go find Spider-Man and shop for groceries for tonight's dinner. Just great.

I couldn't really complain. I liked food and to have no food could would have really put me in a bad mood.

I selflessly removed myself off my bed and had put on some clothes and my black winter coat, before pushing the lock in my apartment door and locking it.

I had felt my phone buzzing again and had seen that it was Ganke. I responded to the phone to hear what he had to say.

"Bro, you've spoken to Spider-Man yet?" He asked from the other side of the line.

"Not yet. Gotta do some shopping for mom." I replied, slightly embarrassed by the thought of it. Nobody knew though, except Ganke obviously.

"Since when did Miles Morales do grocery shopping for his precious mom?" Teased Ganke, laughing slightly. I had a strong feeling that he was smiling from the other side.

It has made me feel more sheepish about it.

"Since forever ago, man." I mumbled, feeling insanely shy now. "Okay, I gotta go. In a few?"

"Later." Finally said Ganke, now leaving me to start walking to the Subway Station.

This time I had my Subway Card. I knew the fastest way to get to Teo's Bodega was through the Subway. I didn't mind the Subway anyway. It was the perfect place to  listen to music and take in the awesome sights of Harlem.

Once I had boarded the Subway, I had decided to stand up to allow other people to sit. I was  also scrolling through the latest news on my phone.

Again, Jameson was back to just accusing Spider-Man of random things. I honestly thought he was just jealous of Spidey, but he wouldn't have admitted it of course.

I was now getting off the Subway. I put my headphones back up and gave a self-satisfied smile at the music I had mixed, last week.

Speaking of music. I had reminded myself. When was I gonna take that offer to be the Mall's Christmas DJ?

An issue for another time. I thought.
