31: Family Feud

I went back to Roxxon HQ for a new target. Not for  Krieger, but for  Phin. She was losing control and hurting so many innocent people.

I couldn't just stand there and watch. Phin and The Underground needed to be stopped.

I needed to be persistent and if that meant to go through Phin and die, I'd do it, knowing full well that I went down as a hero.

I was now in the main hallway of the HQ. I just needed to be quiet, especially now that I was on camouflage.

I tiptoed my way over to the room where Rick and the reactor once were and began searching. Before I could progress onto my next step, something heavy had hit my head, causing me to see blurry and collapse flat on my stomach.

I looked around slowly to see that a figure had appeared before me. It was looking down at me with its narrow, neon green glowing eyes.

"Sorry about this, nephew." The low and monotone voice went.

I didn't have the stability to work it out then.

I had been knocked out.

A few minutes later, I had found myself on the ground behind some sort of wall that was preventing me from coming out.

I attempted doing a mild Venom Shock at the wall,but the tech was also stronger than my powers.

"Can't let you go back there." Came the same low and monotone voice. When I had seen who it was, I had become furious. "Let Krieger and the Tinkerer kill each other. Go back to being Spider-Man when the heat dies down."

"And what, just hide down here?" I angrily replied, beginning to show some attitude with my own Uncle-the Prowler. "I don't get to pick and choose when I'm Spider-Man. I gotta stop Phin."

"No, you gotta survive." Said Aaron, now moving his masked face closer to the wall I was behind and pointing at me. "I've been trying to teach you that, but you don't listen."

"You want me to survive so bad?" I rudely asked. "Why sell me out to Krieger?"

"Wasn't a sell out." Harshly stated Aaron.

"Yeah." I dismissively replied under my breath,now looking away from him.

"I'm serious. You were never supposed to get caught." Added Aaron, watching me move back towards him from the other side. "Krieger broke our deal."

"You wanted back in the family and that's the best you can do?" I snarled, waving my arms in deep frustration.

"I saved your life." Continued the Prowler.

"You threw me in a cell!" I yelled, indicating where I was.

"To protect you!" Yelled back the Prowler.

"Like this is protecting me?" I bellowed, now completely losing my cool with my "uncle".

"Dammit, Miles! I'm not gonna lose you too!" Screamed Aaron, moving slightly back from the cell.

"And I'm not gonna let people die just to save my skin." I sternly stated,watching him while clenching my fists.

I had kneeled down into a Spider-position with one arm in behind me prepared to punch the wall with my Venom Punch.

"You underestimated me." I angrily said in a deep voice, now using the Venom Punch to break my way through the cell and set myself free.

I took Aaron down with me, causing us to fall down from where the cell formerly was to a lower point of the ground.

The both of us had gotten into a series of kicking and punching, spitting nasty words at one another. I was feeling a wave of rage continuously flooding my mind everytime I had gotten the chance to shock the Prowler or punch him.

Things had finally died down, with him on the ground and me walking right towards him.

"I know I messed up." Said Aaron, right after I had webbed his hand down to prevent him from attacking me. "I let you down. But we're family."

"Family?" I asked in disbelief. From what I had just experienced, it didn't feel like a family. "That didn't stop you from lying to me, manipulating me, fighting me. Being 'family' isn't enough anymore."

"Doesn't have to be like this." Resumed Aaron, pressing the side of his head to remove his mask and reveal his face. "You? Me? Hating each other. That's what happened between me and your dad. I don't want to repeat that."

"I can't either." I replied, hardly even looking at him. "But I can't be the person you wanna turn me into. I can't turn my back when people need me."

I began walking away from Aaron as fast as I could. He was slowing me down. When he decides to apologise, that's when the definition of "family" would exist between us.

"I have to be better than that." I finally said, leaving Aaron all alon to work out his mistake.

Saving people wasn't my mistake.
