Mom had  very worked hard that night to nurse me back to health. Ganke had also helped out every now and then.

On the desk, there were some antibiotics, my mask, a plate and a needle.

I was now sat on the couch, feeling much better than I was before, with mom. I had explained everything to her from beginning to end about my Spider-Man journey so far.

"Phin's attacking the plaza?" Began my mom, who was resting a comforting hand on mine.

"Yeah." I agreed, happy to understand that she was following, while looking up at her.

"So that was you chasing her through the city?" Asked my mom, still avoiding eye contact with me and staying calm. "As Spider-Man? You could've died."

Mom now looked at me with a strong concerned face.

The guilt of messing up had washed all over me again. It seemed like it was the main theme ever since I had started this whole Spider-Man thing.

"No puedo creerlo." Said my mom, regaining her sadness. "Why didn't you tell me about any of this? All those talks we had; how to keep yourself safe. But this? "

"I didn't want you to worry." I finally cracked, feeling tremendously guilty. "And the other Spider-Man's gone. I just keep making things worse and worse. And now, I screwed things up with you."

I couldn't believe it. I had made the one thing that cares about me the most so upset and as usual, it was my fault.

I was to blame for the distress I had caused her.

"Miles." Started my mom, after looking away from me for a split second. "There is nothing you could ever do or be that would make me stop loving you. Nada. You give me strength, Miles. That's all a hero really is. Someone who's brave for the people they love."

Mom's motivativational speech had moved me to the point that I was speechless. I decided to lean in for a hug instead.

She was amazing. She'd never give up, just like dad, she was remarkably persistent.

That's why I loved her. She always went out of her way to protect the people she loved- and that was exactly what I had to do if I was to continue being Spider-Man.

I needed to be persistent.

"Just a guy who doesn't give up." I muttered, whilst I was still holding onto her loving and warm motherly embrace.

Ganke had suddenly entered the room and had stared at the both of us very quickly.

"Gloria's handling F.E.A.S.T and Teo's gonna help us go door to door." Announced Ganke to my mom from the other side of the living room.

"Perfect." Softly said my mom, noe getting up from the couch. "Let's get this evacuation started. I'll meet you outside?"

Ganke obediently nodded and left the room, leaving me alone with my mom.

"You remind me of your father everyday." Said my mom, putting a hand on my upper arm and staring into my eyes. She then gave me a kiss on the cheek. "You stay safe."

"I will." I sternly promised, while watching her leave the room.

I had turned my head to look at the photo of my dad on the  dresser. I had nodded and smiled slightly because I knew that dad would be very proud of me.

It was just a shame that he was no longer around.

I had also left the room, to go and figure myself out as my new and improved Spider-Man.
