The morning kicks in with peppered kisses that nudge her awake. Lea can’t recall the last time she woke up with such a profound sense of happiness. It feels like the first time, despite the fact that waking up next to a naked man was part of her job a long time ago. His lips land against hers—gentle and loving. She gives in to his caress, surrendering all her defenses until her body feels weak and beautifully helpless under his touch.

She pulls away slightly, slithering an arm around his waist. "Babes? What will happen next to us now?"

"I haven't told you yet but I resigned already before coming here, babes."

Lea looks puzzled by his words. "What do you mean resign, babes? You gave up your position?"

"Yes. Mom doesn't approve the annulment. She even wants to confirm if Eli is really mine. You knew her, masyadong perfectionist. But, of course, things are different now. I have you and Eli. You are my family, babes. I'd rather lose anything than losing the both of you. Kayo yung buhay ko, Lei. My strength and weakness."

Lea falls silent as disbelief flurries through her. This is far beyond what she expected from him. The idea of him giving up his profession just for them is staggering, but she can’t contain the joy blooming inside her. It is visible evidence of his persistence—a tangible way to make up for his shortcomings.

"You did that? For real? Babes, are you sure about this?" she asks, her mind still racing.

He smiles, his gaze steady. "Never been this sure. We can get through this, babe. I can apply for a job in different companies. May tatanggap naman siguro sakin. I have friends as well whom I can count on. And, about Eli's scholarship, babes. I just found out that it was dad all along. He found you and Eli years ago. Fifth grader na si Eli non."

Lea gawks at him. "What?! All this time he knew where we were?"

He nods. "He talked to the school owner for Eli's scholarship. Hindi niya sinabi sakin ang tungkol sa inyo because it was what you wanted."

Lea dredges up memories of the day Don Arnaldo came to see her. Her mind had been made up then; leaving Aga was the best choice back then. Truly, his father hid the fact about Eli from Aga just as she had requested.

"... But I have decided to end it up, babes. Ayoko namang iasa pa kay dad ang pagpapaaral kay Eli. Di ko pa nasasabi kay dad because I want to let you know about it first," he adds.

"You're her father, babes. If you think it's for the best, then do it. You have point. We could not start a new life kung aasa tayo sa iba. Besides, had I known that your dad was the one behind it, I should've declined Eli's scholarship. I have told him back then that I was not after your wealth. Tapos malalaman ko na lang na all these years, pinapag aral niya si Eli."

"Well, that's exactly his point. Alam niyang tatanggi ka. He felt guilty in hiding the truth from me kaya gusto niyang makabawi man lang. I couldn't blame him. In fact, I should be thankful. He was there for Eli while I'm being blinded by Luisa," he says, pressing a tender peck to her forehead.

"Tapos na yun, babes. Let's not talk about it."

She can’t resist kissing him again. It feels like a dream; her heart is so full it is nearly exploding. Aga is the man she has been waiting for so long. Their start was jagged and tough, but she knows now he is her last—a match made in heaven for her.
