The four of us reached Creams and Gurts in half an hour.
The thought of Alex seeing me like this, it sent a cloud of butterflies clouding my vision.
Ava, sensing that, winked at me and said, "You look amazing, babe. Own it."
I smiled and straightened.
The doorbell jingled as we entered, and a burst of cool air greeted us.
I looked around and spied Cole in our favourite booth.
Beside me, Trish squealed and bit her lip. I squeezed her hand. The two of them, they were like, goals.
She looked at us with raised eyebrows and I sighed, rolling my eyes. "Just go get him already."
She let out a laugh and sauntered towards him.
With him facing the opposite side, she went and wrapped her arms around his neck from behind. "Hey handsome", she whispered into his ear.
His eyes widened as he spun around and took her in with that cobalt blue dress setting her perfect figure off.
Trish blushed at the intensity of his stare.
Cole stood up, and I could finally see him, clad in a navy blue suit with a white shirt underneath and a tie to top it all off.
Boy, he looked good.
He went up to her, tucked away a strand of her hair behind her ear, and murmured something to her that we couldn't hear.
Whatever it was, it set her off.
One moment, they were conserved and blushing, the next, they were a tangle of limbs and...blue cloth as Trish crashed her lips onto Cole's.
The rest of us laughed.
"Get a room, you two," someone mocked from behind.
I thought it was-
Noah.
Not....Alex.
I sigh. Where was he, anyways?
I smile at the newcomer, and he nods his head back. His blonde hair was really set off by the bottle dark green suit he wore. He smiled at Audrey, whose face had lit up like a light.
Noah walked towards her, and mocked a bow at Audrey. She blushed but held up the skirt of her dress and courtesied in return.
A light, casual, fun gesture.
Noah was a good guy, despite the jock cliche all around his aura. I guess people never stop surprising you.
He went to Cole, who, mercifully had broken apart from Trish and noticed us.
Noah and Cole smiled at each other in the 'bro' way and did that 'handshake-plus-shoulder clasp' guys did.
Okay, where was Alex?
I made to open my mouth to ask Cole when he stopped me and said, "Alex left a message...Mr. Jones called him to school early....asked him to help with last-minute invitations. Guess you'll have to wait a bit, Sasha." He winked.
I tried to push down the flicker of disappointment I felt.
Screw Mr. Jones...
Cole continued, "Though I'm sure he'll fall out of his pants when he sees you...you look amazing, Sash."
"Is that a compliment, Cole? Why, thank you."
"All you ladies look beautiful. And Noah agrees." Cole continued, and Noah nodded his agreement.
Noah said, "Speaking of....." he looked at Cole and nodded towards the door, as if beckoning him outside.
Cole nodded and followed him outside.
"Damn, is it just me or did they just get hotter?" Ava mused.
I laughed. It was true, they had just become eye candy.....
"Well, I bet Alex looks amazing too," Audrey said, casting a sideward glance at me.
Trish looked at me with a sly grin, and I rolled my eyes. I thought it was time to tell them how I really felt.
"Guys....I think....I think I'm falling for him.....hardcore."
It was Ava's turn to roll her eyes. "Darling, we know."
What???
"You do?" I asked, surprised by the lack of excitement my statement brought.
"Of course we do....we know you since forever, Sash."
I sighed. "I don't know what to do now.....it's all so confusing."
Ava gave me a smile, a real one. Not a mock, not a grin, just a smile. "Alex is a great guy. And you guys deserve to be together. You deserve all the happiness in the world."
I nod.
In five minutes, Cole and Noah return, carrying small boxes in their hands.
Corsages.
They walk over to Trish and Audrey.
Noah goes first. He opens his box to reveal a corsage of cream white roses with laid-in white and pale pink ribbons. Simple, elegant, beautiful.
Just like Audrey.
She beamed when he tied it on her wrist.
"Such a charmer, Noah...." she mused. He laughed, and Rey continued, "It's beautiful. Thank you."
He nodded. "Just like you."
It was Cole's turn now.
He went to Trish, who was already blushing red as a tomato and gave her the corsage.
It was amazing. A pale blue rose within petals and streamers of white, bordered and laced off with perfect green leaves.
Trish's eyes had gone wide, and looked blazed.
I smile at Cole. He was perfect.
It was 3:45....we'd better get a move on.
