Life isn't a disney movie.
But it isn't a horror film either.
You see, that's the thing about life. You can't define it, give it a name.
It's undecided, unknown. And the best and worst thing about it is that it goes on. No matter what, it won't hol...
It was 3:30, and Mr. Jones was still keeping me with the last-minute invitations.
The up-side was that I was one of the first ones to see the final, decorated hall, and boy, it looked amazing.
Students had managed to cover the entire ceiling with gold and silver ribbons, food tables set up lining the hallways, the courtyard lit up with rose gold and yellow fairy lights, and to top it all off, a disco ball (cliche alert) hanging down the ceiling.
The windows were covered up, so it was dark in the hall, save for the string of fairy lights attached all over in wreaths.
Mr. Jones had also called Nevaeh, a pretty girl who happened to play soccer, and was the head of the Event Committee. She was Australian, brunette, and basically, a nice person, looking even nicer in her velvet, midnight blue gown.
She was standing beside me, tapping her foot impatiently.
I smirked. "Got a date waiting?"
"Well, I don't think he's here yet."
I nod.
"What 'bout you? Who's the lucky girl?" she asked.
"Oh, umm, it's Sasha. Sasha Conrad." I said. "She's my best friend." I smile.
Nevaeh snorted. "Oh, please. You're head over heels in love with her."
I turned around to face her. For some reason, I couldn't bring myself to smile. She noticed that, and immediately said, "I'm-I'm sorry-I didn't realize you actually love her...I was just assuming-"
"It's okay....." I gave her a sad smile.
"She hasn't said it back, has she? And, lemme guess, even you haven't," she said, now in a softer voice.
I just stared ahead. Nothing to say anyways.
She walked over to me and said, "My mom always says that homecomings and prom always worked wonders. I think it's time for you to put that theory to use." She smiled and patted me.
I nodded back.
Yes, it was time.
I turned back to Nevaeh. "Hey, what d'you think of this corsage?" and showed it to her.
It had white orchids woven around with golden tendrils curled around, and the golden leaves and ribbons formed a perfect base. I'd assumed it would go well with her black dress.

Nevaeh nodded her approval. "She's one lucky girl."
I smiled. Nevaeh was a great person. People never stopped surprising you.
**20 minutes later**
Where the hell were they?? Students as well as teachers had now begun filing in, quickly filling the hall. All through it, Nevaeh had been there with me. We'd cracked jokes and shared stories. Turns out, she'd moved from Australia about 2 years ago.
I told her about Sasha and me, and all the drama that had unfurled.
She smirked when I told her of our phone calls.
"What?" I ask.
She rolled her eyes and said, "Why are guys always so stupid? She's clearly in love with you. She's just afraid of getting too close to you, 'coz from as much as I've heard, I'm assuming that she's got a lot of walls towered around her. And......." she trailed off.
"And what?"
Nevaeh looked at me dead in the eye and said, "She's afraid she's gonna do something wrong, and that she'll loose you."
Wha-
No. I'd never even considered the possibility that she too-
I shook my head. But the more I thought about it, the more sense it made. How she always let herself be vulnerable around me, how she'd been acting weird when I told her about Audrey.....God. Oh, god. I'd been going on and on about Audrey to her....
Well, it was all in the past. Today, the both of us would have fun. We'd make this a day to remember.
