Kissing Taehyung! Jennie straightened up. She didn't want to kiss him. He's her best friend! They played together in the sand box, shared Dino nuggets, and helped each other with their homework.
"I think I'm tired. I'll call you tomorrow." She bolted out of his car and down the sidewalk toward her house.
"Jen, wait!" He yelled out from behind, but she wasn't stopping for anything.
He called her cell phone about five times before she decided in turned it off. She left it off all weekend. Even though that meant going to Pop's by herself on Sunday and having to play chess and losing every time.
Her thoughts were racing. Taehyung had almost kissed her. She was pretty sure that he was going to kiss her.
In the dark and out of her fancy prom dress it was hard to be sure exactly what happened. She could ask him. Right?
No. She couldn't ask him. Like that was gonna happen.
The strangest part was that she couldn't even decide if she wanted him to kiss her. She wanted it... But kissing Taehyung would change everything. And she wasn't sure she wanted things to change.
Until that moment, Jennie had been convinced that Taehyung wasn't attracted to her.
He'd never said anything. It must've been because of the fake dating.

On Monday Jennie left for school really early, just in case Taehyung would try another breakfast ambush.
At some point she was going to have to face him, but this wasn't time.
Before facing Taehyung, she needed to get her head on straight. First thing she needed to do: End the Boyfriend charade.
How does one go and stop a rumor?
Yeri and her gossiping mouth.
At lunch, Jennie settled into her seat next to Rosie at the cheerleader's table, and Yeri, as always, began digging for gossip.
"So what were you and Taehyung up to over the weekend?" Yeri asked even before she was completely in her chair.
"Taehyung and I decided we weren't working out actually. We're going to cool things off and go back to being friends."
Jennie hoped she sounded nonchalant, but just in case, she took two big bites of her cold noodles to cover any betraying facial expressions.
"That must be hard." Yeri didn't even bother trying to cover up her grin. "Was he seeing someone else? A girl at another private school I bet."
"What!? No." Jennie was horrified. She didn't want them to think badly of him. Taehyung was anything but a cheater.
"Taehyung would never do that." Rosie defended, shooting a questioning look at Jennie. "You don't have to explain to us, it isn't our business." She continued, glaring at Yeri.
"No, it's okay. I just don't think we were meant to be more than friends I guess. Taehyung is a great guy."
"Oh now I get it." Yeri started again, completely disregarding Rosie's death stare. "This is about Kai. Now that he's available again, you just drop poor Taehyung." Yeri crossed her legs. "That's just awful of you. He loved you for all those years, and you were just using him?" She laid back into her seat, crossing her arms. "Poor Tae." Yeri was shaking her head. "He could probably use a friend to talk to right about now." The grin was back.
