01/22/24 - Update: I am reposting this chapter because after reading it now, i realize how messed up on meds I was. Sorry for the confusion. I'm working on chapter 19 and it should be posted by next week at the latest.
Chapter 18 – *Everything But me
Far away in another place
I'd give my soul just to see her face
If I'd have known it meant my suitcase
Of everything that you just couldn't say
How'd you know I needed that today?
Wherever you are is where I want to be
Look around and tell me what you see
Everything, everything but me
No matter how many miles stand in between
In my heart is where you'll be
Holdin' on to all our dreams
With everything, everything but me
Have you ever wanted something so bad, so bad that it hurt? So bad that you put everything you have into dreaming about it? Dreaming about it because you don't think there's a snowballs chance in hell that you can ever get it. So, you daydream, and you imagine how good it will feel to get it, be it, do it.. whatever "it" is.
Now forget that, because nothing you can imagine will feel anywhere as near as good as this. Logan wants to yell it from the rooftops. She chose him. Every day he tells himself it can't be real, and every night that she kisses him goodnight before bed he wonders how long something like this can last.
The kissing goodnight usually follows with them going to their respective rooms. They've agreed to take it all slow. There's a lot of water, baggage, drama, whatever you want to call it under their proverbial bridge and neither of them want to risk the friendship they've built. They are both afraid, though theres a part of Logan that can't help but wonder if it's fear or there's still some remaining feeling there for her ex. Finn leaving has made things easer for them, for him. But even with him gone, he still hangs in the air.
He's not delusional enough to think that she's in love with him, not yet. But there's a connection she's not ignoring anymore and for now, that's enough for Logan because that connection was enough to make her choose him, and he plans on making sure he's the kind of man that will never make her regret that decision.
"Good morning beautiful." He says as Rory appears in her doorway for the first time this morning. He's been up for hours handling business over the phone, and he's sitting at the table reading the New York Times Business section, and drinking a smoothie.
"Please tell me that you are NOT drinking a green drink?" She rubs the sleep out of her eyes and walks barefooted to the coffee machine, where a freshly brewed pot awaits her. "Why are you drinking that monstrosity, when the nectar of the Gods is brewed and calling your name from right in front of you?"
"Because that um, nectar of the Gods, is for my girl. You see she thinks it the best thing in the world."
Rory pours herself a cup, smirking, but refusing to let him see her amusement at the kind gesture, "If you really loved me, there's be pop tarts."
"Two Strawberry, two Cherry waiting for you to make you final choice. Guess that means I Love you."
He says the words before he realizes what he's saying. "I mean, you know,... Gilmore maybe now that your all grown up you should stop eating like a teenager."
