Jiles' POV
It had been a week of her grandma in the hospital and she seemed to be doing better. Each day I'd take Raegan to the hospital, sit and talk with her family, bring Dream over to see my parents, then head back to the hospital to sit with Raegan until she was ready to go. Today was no different.
I had already been at the hospital a few hours and was headed to my parents. Dream was in the backseat knocked, like she always was in the car. When we got there I carefully unbuckled her and walked her through the front door, hoping she'd stay asleep.
"JieJie!" Kaycee called when she saw it was me coming in. She was the only person on earth I'd let call me that.
"Kay Kay," I repeated, mimicking her high pitched voice. She followed behind my heels, watching as I laid Dream in her bed.
"She's sleep?" she asked and I nodded my head. "Aww, I wanted to play with her,"
"You can play with her when she gets up, ok?" She looked at me still pouting but agreed and went to the family room where all of her toys were.
I found my mom in her office typing away.
"Where's Pops and James?" I asked.
"Practice," she reminded me. My dad was a basketball coach for the high school out here. We had the best team in the state. We won multiple championships and had many players play for the USA team and get drafted. I was one of those players thanks to my Pops. Jamison was well on his way to following in my footsteps, too.
"You working still?" I asked, checking the time.
"Yeah, some last minute things I needed to take care of," she said. I let her work in peace, scrolling through my phone.
"Dreamy!" I heard Kaycee yell and groaned, already knowing she went and woke her up. I walked into Kaycee's bedroom and saw them hugging each other.
"Baby where's your shirt?" I laughed, looking around for her shirt.
"She took it off," Kaycee shrugged. I saw the shirt laying on the floor in the corner and put it back on her.
"Keep it on," I said strictly and walked out, leaving them to play. When I got back to my mom's office she was done with work.
"How's Raegan's grandma?" she asked, leading me to the living room.
"Better. They're just watching her now," I explained.
"Do you know when she'll be let out? Or if she will?"
I ran my hands through my hair. "They don't know. She feels ok right now and there's not much they can do about the cancer so it's just a matter of time," I spoke.
"Has Raegan been taking it ok? I know her grandma was all she really had,"
"She's been pretty down. She's worried of course cuz our wedding's in a month. She's so scared her grandma won't make it and that's one person she really needed there," Raegan had been trying to stay strong but I could tell it was taking a toll on her. With no parents and no siblings the one person she needed at her wedding was her grandma. Her uncles were invited of course and she had cousins that would be there but the one person she cared about the most was her grandmie. I laid back on the couch, tired from everything we'd been through this week.
