Jiles' POV
"Tatum at the rim, dunks on Smith!"
"Another three from Tatum!"
"Simmons to Tatum, it's...good!"
"Despite a tough fight from Boston the game ends in LA's favor. 112-104"
I walked to the locker room more mad then I'd ever been. It was like no matter how much work we put in we just couldn't make it to the finals. This was my second year in a row not making it and the disappointment was stronger than ever. Coach gave us yet another speech about how far we'd made it and whatever else but I didn't want to hear any of it. As I left the locker room I found Rae, Dream, my parents, and siblings waiting for me.
"You did so good, baby," Raegan said, giving me a kiss on the cheek. My parents complimented me, Kaycee came over and hugged me, and Jamison just dapped me up. I picked Dream up and carried her to my interview without a word. I wasn't in the mood to talk and I knew the only person that could keep me under control during my press conference was my babygirl.
"Hey Jiles. We know this is a disappointing place to be in two years in a row. What thoughts are going through your head right now?" a reporter asked.
"Frustration and anger mostly. It's like we get so far but we can't make it past here," I said, honestly.
"You had an amazing night. Scoring 31 points. Was there anything you would've done differently?"
"There's always something I could do differently or better. I don't really know what that could've been right now, I'm a little too angry to even think about it," I chuckled. It sounded lighthearted but really I was boiling on the inside.
"This is your first interview with your babygirl. How does it feel to have her here?" someone else asked.
"Sad she gotta see me go out like that, but she makes me happy so I'm glad she's here to calm me down," I smiled watching her reach for the mic.
"Dadada," she said into it, causing everyone in the room to laugh. I wrestled the mic from her hands and picked her up, leaving the press conference.
My family wanted to go to dinner after but I wasn't in the mood. Instead I went back to the hotel and took a nap, not wanting to talk to anyone. When I woke up Kaycee was asleep next to me and I was confused when she even came into our room.
