Jiles' POV

"I'm excited for this," I said, shaking hands with the Boston team owner and head coach. I took the advice my mom gave me and agreed to sign with Boston. I knew in my heart it was right I just wasn't the type of person to fall at the first thing offered to me.

"So are we Jiles. The official announcement will be out later today. We'll need you up here within the next few days so you can jump into off season training as quickly as possible," Coach Stevens said. It'd be a quick move but I wasn't trippin. My condo was pretty much empty, Natasha always nagged me about it. Maybe a part of me knew I'd be leaving soon.

I rushed home and began packing. I didn't know why I was so excited to leave but somehow I knew this move was going to be one of the best things to happen to me. I hadn't spoken to Natasha in a few days and honestly I wasn't tryna go through the whole goodbye thing with her. I knew she'd be dramatic and drag the situation out. I had a feeling she'd pop by sometime that week though so I left a note on the fridge telling her I left. The team wasn't expecting me until the start of the next week but I'd stop by St. Louis for a few days to be with my mom then fly out to Boston. I packed a bag for my short stay at my moms and left a message for my assistant to come and send the rest of my stuff off in a few days.

As I headed towards the door I heard keys jingling and saw the doorknob turn.

"You gotta be kidding me," I sighed, setting my bag down. Natasha walked in and jumped, not expecting me to be right there.

"Why are you-" she started but her words were cut off when she saw my bag. "Where are you going?" she asked, unfazed. She walked into the kitchen happily until she saw the note with her name on it. She carefully took it down and read it then turned to me with that look. The Natasha look. The one that was normally followed by a slap. "Boston!? You signed with Boston and was just gonna what? Leave and not tell me!?" she asked, waving the note around. I wipe my hands down my face not even knowing where to begin.

"I was going to call you later once I was already gone so you wouldn't take it so hard," I lied.

"What does Tony think of this Jiles? This relationship is for our brands, remember?"

"Long distance wouldn't work in a real or fake relationship. I don't think he'd care," I shrugged.

"First of all, you're probably tryna go to St. Louis first because you wanna see your ex. What was her name? Taegan?" I rolled my eyes and tried to calm myself down.

"Raegan. And I'm going to see my moms," I wanted to call her a certain name but I kept it in.

"Yeah, whatever. All you ever talk about is her. I'm sure you'll end up meeting up," she said, throwing the note on the floor.

"What's it matter to you? You're not my girl," I reminded her. She turned on her heels and I thought for sure this was when I'd get slapped.

"You know what. Go to St. Louis or Boston or wherever the hell you want to. We're done," she started walking towards the door and I would've let her delusional ass go except she still had my keys in her hand.
