Jiles' POV
"You got the rings right?" I asked Isaac on the phone. The wedding planner was in charge of pretty much everything except the most important thing, the rings. Somehow that job was given to us and I wasn't sure why.
"Yes bro, I got them," Isaac laughed. I made myself a plate of food from the table they had set up and rushed Isaac. The wedding party all spent the night at a hotel but he had kids to take care of so he was just leaving his house to meet us all there.
"I didn't think I'd ever see this day," my dad laughed, coming and taking a seat next to me with his plate. "Not until you brought Raegan home of course,"
"I was not tryna hear allat romance shit you was spittin' Pops," I laughed, thinking of him tryna teach me how to spit game in high school. I was just tryna smash and pass and he tried to teach me how to find a wife. I guess some of it stuck cuz here I was getting married.
"Well, like I said. Your mother and I knew Rae was the one before you did. You guys are just perfect for each other. You've done a lot to make me proud, son. But this right here is my proudest moment," I stood up and embraced him, happy to hear him say that. The relationship my parents had with Raegan was all I could ever want. They loved her and accepted her into the family from day one. And we were finally making it official. My mind hadn't fully wrapped itself around it but I knew once we started getting ready it would hit.
Zamir and Malachi walked into the "groomsmen" area where my Pops and I were at and headed straight for the food.
"Morning," they said politely to my dad, sitting across from us.
"You ready for this, man?" Zamir asked, swallowing his food whole.
"I'm not trippin yet. I know I'm finna be nervous as fuck in a little bit though," I laughed. This was the biggest day of my life, next to Dream's birth of course. I was the type of person to get nervous right before I ran out onto the court so I knew today would be the same.
"Y'all doing your own vows?" Malachi asked.
"Yeah, that's gonna be the hardest part. I don't do that public speaking shit,"
"Nigga, you do the best interviews out of everybody on the team," Zamir waved me off.
"Yeah, that's basketball. This is me talking about how much I love her in front of everyone I know. This is different," I laughed. I had no problem telling her how I felt, most of the time at least. But to do it in front of everyone was nerve racking. What if it wasn't as good as everyone expected or wanted. I guess as long as Raegan was happy with it that's all that mattered but I was still scared.
Once Isaac got there everything started moving fast as fuck. The barber came in and started cutting hair, my Pops was in the corner steaming everyone's clothes, people were running around trying to get mine and Raegan's little cousins in their tuxes since they were the ring bearers, it was a lot going on. My mom came in and looked at all of us like we were crazy.
"This is why y'all can't do anything by yourself," she said sucking her teeth. She was in there for two seconds and got everything straightened out. Everyone's clothes were hung neatly, the boys got their suits on, and the atmosphere all together had calmed down.
"This is why we keep her around," my dad pointed. She side eyed him and he turned around quickly, going back to steaming.
"Is my baby dressed yet?" I asked her since she was in the room where all of the girls were at.
"Which one?" she laughed. I called Dream and Rae both my baby's.
"Dream. If she is, can you bring her in here? And check on Rae, I know she was missing her grandma earlier," I said. I wanted to see Dreamy in her flower girl dress and make sure Rae was doing somewhat better. Kaycee was the other flower girl and she wouldn't shut up about it for the past few weeks. She was so excited cuz we hyped it up and made it seem like the most important job of all.
