With Valentine's Day around the corner, the streets were painted with red and white. It's only the first day of February and the fever had started to spread. Teddy bears, cards, chocolates boxes and other cheeky stuff were hanging on the shelves of every store
Valentine has to be the worst time for me, well it was a good time for my business, people would troop in to get pastries and cakes made for their loved ones and for the occasion...but for my personal life, Valentine sucks
It is the one day that am constantly reminded that I have been single for what...My whole life. I stopped by the cafe to grab a cup of coffee, even the cafe had been decorated with red hearts.
I greeted the petit blonde who was standing by the coffee machine
'What can I get you', she smiled
'A cup of latte to go please',i placed my order and made my payment at the cash register
After a few minutes, I got my coffee and left the cafe. I walked on the sidewalk sipping on my coffee on the way to the bakery. When I got to the bakery, the close sign had been turned over to inform customers that we were open. I opened the door and the little chiming sound welcomed me
'Good morning', I heard Liv greet from behind the counter
'Good morning, you are here early', I joined her behind the counter
'Yup, I thought it would be nice if we decorated the bakery a bit', she had a grin on her face
"Oh no, am not having any hearty, cheeky decorations in my bakery"
'C'mon Ava, our bakery is always the odd one. Every other store in town has decorations hung up for Valentine',she said
'I don't want all that cheeky stuff in here, I walked into the kitchen at the back
'It would be nice, it would give the bakery a warm feel', she washed her hands
'The heat from the oven keeps the bakery warm enough', I put on my apron and started mixing flour for bread
"You know what I think',she puts on her apron and joins me. 'I think the only reason you don't feel the Valentine magic is because you have no one to celebrate Valentine's Day with and you have never celebrated Valentine's Day"
'Yes I have', I defended quickly
'Really, how and with who?', she stops for a minute to focus on me
'Remember Alex...
'Oh please, enough with that story already. That was during the college Valentine's love feast and you know he wasn't your boyfriend', she stated
'But he got me chocolates and all those cheesy stuff', I continued to defend myself
'For real Ava, you need to work on your relationship life', she put the first batch of dough in the oven
'I have a relationship with you', I took off my apron.
I took the tray of freshly baked cupcakes and arranged them in the show glass before customers start to troop in.
' I mean romance Ava', she comes behind me with a tray of pastries
'We could do romance', I smirked
'Ewww', she grimaced and I laughed
The little door bell dinged alerting me of the arrival of a customer
'We would talk about this later', i dismissed her. I don't want my customers hearing about me relationship life
'This matter isn't over though', she walks back to the kitchen to check on the bread baking in the oven
