The veteran hunters took shaky slow steps before all rushing to Zoë's side. The lieutenant stirred slightly before stretching and yawning.
Zoë rubbed her eyes before she felt a shiver go down her spine. She tried to rub her arms for warmth until she finally looked at herself.
"Where art thine clothes?" Zoë said with a girlish yelp. Finally, she looked around. Her sisters all stared at her with mixed emotions. Some held tears in their eyes while others had happy smiles.
"Oh." She says, shyly pulling up the unknown fur pelt further. "Thou hast brought me back." She looked toward her patron goddess who looked at her former lieutenant with shock. "Tis good to see thee again, Lady Artemis."
The moon lit the face of the daughter of Atlas. Her smile filled with gratitude and relief was beautiful. Even if it was a small smile, her white teeth shone with brilliance in the moonlight.
In an instant, both goddess and hunter rushed towards each other in an embrace. The girls squeezed each other tightly before they released again.
"A blanket, quickly." Artemis commanded for anyone out of their stupor.
"So where is Per-" Zoë tried to get out. She was truly grateful to the young demigod and wished desperately to see him.
Artemis placed a hand over Zoë's mouth and whispered in her ear. "The girls don't know, only Thalia and I. He goes by Jack now so please refer to him as so."
Zoë nodded in understanding, a smile tugging at her lips. "Is that thine new alpha?" She points back to Jack's collapsed form where she emerged from.
Artemis gripped the girls shoulders, a blanket now covering her exposed body. "Zoë, were you not aware of your surroundings while with the boy?"
Zoë looked to the sky before she responded. "I was able to keep watch from the stars, though it was a bit cold. When I was drawn to him, I was incredibly warm but, it was as if I was asleep." Zoë looked towards Jack again. "Why?"
"Zoë, Jack is him. He has been in that form for half a year as I know."
The hunter turned towards the goddess so fast she could've gotten whiplash. "Why has he collapsed like that? Is something wrong?"
Finally Thalia joined their conversation from where she sat with Jack's head on her lap. "He's fine now, although he's still asleep. I don't know what happed to him but his breathing is back to normal, and it's good to have you back, Zoë."
Zoë went to sit by Thalia. "Tis all thanks to him." She says with a sweet smile. As she pet Jack's chest she noticed his incredible warmth. "He's so warm." She lets out softly.
"Being with him must have kept you warm during your stay. Look, even the hunter constellation is gone now."
"Alright girls, dinner has been had and an old friend has returned." Artemis calls out. "With Jack out of commission most likely due to these events, lights out girls."
All the hunters started saying their goodnights to one another. The little ones would kiss Jack's snout before going to bed and the older veterans who deeply knew Zoë dragged her around different tents.
"Thalia." Artemis called. "If you can't move him I can move him for you or you're welcome to stay with him as long as you have a blanket."
"Thank you, my lady, I'll stay here with him." Thalia says with a bow of her head.
The next day, Jack woke up early during the first rays of light. He saw the beautiful Thalia cuddled up against his chest, a fistful of fur in her hand. The blanket covering her was down covering her legs only now. Her growing black messy hair now reached her shoulder blades and blew softly in the morning breeze.
