It was just a regular day in Camp Half-Blood, campers going about their various activities or relaxing with their siblings. Only seven were not present for the regular, yet peaceful day at camp, for they were being rewarded by the gods.
Up on Olympus the seven of the prophecy kneel before the Olympians. Hestia tending the hearth, the 12 Olympian gods on their thrones, and a missing Hades. The second war is over and now that a relative form of peace is among the world, it was time. The gods would reward their heroes for their brave acts in the war.
"Congratulations, heroes of the prophecy." Zeus' voice boomed in the massive throne room. "Now that a relative peace has settled upon the world, we wish to reward you for your efforts in the war. The gods have agreed to grant you immortality so that you may continue a wondrous life at camp, should you accept."
The group looked at each other, smiles on their faces, some eager for the future. "Jason Grace, please rise." Zeus shimmered and in his place stood Jupiter proud of his son. "Do you accept the offer, my son?"
Jason nodded and replied to his father with slight glee in his voice, "I do lord Jupiter."
The now reverted Zues smiled at his answer and gestured for the next person to rise. "Frank Zhang." Frank rose giving a quick glance to his father. Mars nodded in approval of his son giving Frank a small smile. "Do you also accept the offer? In doing so, I would also like to mention that your life will no longer be tied to that peice of wood you carry."
"I do lord Zeus." Frank stated without hesitation. Zeus then pointed his open palm to the next hero.
"Leo Valdez." Zues called. Leo, however, was tinkering nervously with something in his hands. Zeus cleared his throat attaining the demigod's attention. Leo snapped his head up and rapidly stood at attention like a soldier. Shaking his head, Zeus continued. "Do you accept the offer my boy?"
A grin from cheek to cheek appeared on Leo's face, "Heck yeah I do... I mean, I-I do, lord Zues." The other demigods couldn't help but chuckle at his statement.
With a sigh Zues moved on. "Rise, Perseus Jackson. For leading the army, turning the tides in the war, and saving the mortal world we offer you a special reward. We offer you godhood again and a seat on the Olympian council. In doing so, my sister Hestia will also regain her throne on the council. Do you accept the offer?"
Poseidon looked on eagerly for his son's reply, practically at the edge of his seat. Percy shook his head slowly. "I'm sorry to decline lord Zeus, but I would rather have a wish fulfilled. Well, actually two."
Zeus let out a deep disappointed sigh. "Very well, if they are within our power."
"Then I wish for lord Hades to regain his throne among the council. He rightfully deserves it far more than I and is one of the big three." Percy waited for the reply anxiously.
"He does have a fair point." Athena spoke up. "I see no reason why this wish should be declined." The council agreed, including Hestia, and Zeus accepted.
"Your second wish?" Zeus asked.
"I wish for the gods to change. I don't expect it to happen overnight, but these pacts and oaths that seem to always be broken should just be released. I suggest all gods attempt to spend time with their children, and the big three might as well have a few more. It's only fair and if anything, more children from the most powerful gods could make a difference should another war break out." Percy stated proudly with his chest out and head held high.
Everyone was shocked at Zeus' laugh. "I actually agree with you, these silly oaths are ruining the mortal world and putting our children in danger. Those who feel neglected and unloved could turn out making mistakes that could cost us dearly. Does the council agree with young Perseus' request?" All the gods nodded their heads in approval and Zues slammed the master bolt on the ground. Thunder rumbled loudly even in the throne room. "It is done."
"Thank you lord Zeus. I hope this will become a benifit to the entirety of the world."
Zues nodded and called Piper McLean forth. Aphrodite winked at her daughter and smiled proudly. "Do you accept the offer young lady?"
"I do lord Zeus." Piper said with confidence.
"Rise, Hazel Levesque." Zues actually looked proud to call Hazel his niece and it put a smile on her face when she seemed scared moments ago. "My niece, do you also accept the offer?"
Hazel practically teared up as she answered her uncle. "I do lord Zeus."
"Annabeth Chase." Annabeth looked towards her mother who held a calm expression. Her daughter knew better, in truth, Athena was showing her happiness in her grey wisdom filled eyes. "Along with the offer of immortality, your mother would like to give you a place next to her. Should you accept you will be able to help her in all manners of tasks, like designing new buildings in both camps and on Olympus. Do you accept?"
"Of course I do lord Zeus." Without hesitation, she replied a little to enthusiastically.
"Then step forward those who have accepted." Annabeth took a glance at Percy who held his head down slightly. She cursed herself for letting her pride get the better of her. It was too late, the gods stood and raised their hands towards the demigods consuming the room in light. When the light dimmed out the deed was done, and the immortal demigods felt rejuvinated and healthier than ever.
"Go, celebrate with your family, you heroes deserve it." With that the gods flashed out of the throne room sending the teens to camp. The whole camp partied and shouted long into the night while one demigod had thinking to do at his favorite spot on the beach.
Annabeth walked up to Percy and sat beside him. "Too cool to party?" She asked sarcastically.
"No. Just thinking, I guess."
She mocked gasped at Percy, trying to lighten the mood. "About what, seaweed brain?"
"What to do with the rest of my life." He looked longingly at the waves crashing on the shore.
"Look Percy, I'm sorry. I know I let my pride get the better of me, but it was a great opportunity for me to be one on one with my mom."
"But you never thought about me. I made my wish so that all of us could benefit. You would have been able to hang out and poke each others brains regardless. It just hurt at how quickly you agreed, you didn't even think about me, or us."
Annabeth stayed silent for a moment, it hurt her to know she hurt Percy. He would never do anything like that to her, and he always put everyone first before himself. She kissed his cheek and rested her head in the crook of his neck. "I promise Percy, I never meant to hurt you. I'll find a way for you to at least become immortal, I just can't imagine a life without you, even with everything else that I have."
Percy wrapped an arm around her, he forgave her, besides she was showing her loyalty towards him. They stayed there for a while watching the waves and the bright full moon in the sky. Once the party was over Percy escorted his girlfriend to her cabin and kissed her goodnight before retiring to his. Unbeknownst to either, a figure hid in the shadows of a cabin watching them.
